DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Liz Claiborne 456 Eyeglasses bring a refined, professional look to women's prescription eyewear. These semi-rimless rectangle frames feature a stainless steel top rim paired with acetate temples, creating a lightweight design that won't weigh you down during long workdays or evening wear.

Semi-Rimless Design for Everyday Comfort

The half-rim construction places the frame along the top of the lens while leaving the bottom open, which serves two practical purposes: it reduces overall frame weight and keeps your reading area completely unobstructed. This makes the 456 particularly well-suited for progressive or bifocal lenses, where you need clear sightlines at multiple distances. The rectangular lens shape offers generous coverage while the open bottom design reveals more of your face for a less heavy appearance.

Available in three distinct color options—Opal Burgundy, Brown Gold Grid, and Semi Matte Navy—each finish pairs a matte or textured metal front with coordinating acetate temples. The temples feature subtle Liz Claiborne branding and metal accents at the endpoints. You can choose between two sizes: 49mm or 51mm lens width, both with a 16mm bridge and 135mm temples.

Stainless Steel Construction

The stainless steel frame material offers practical advantages beyond aesthetics. It's naturally resistant to corrosion and provides excellent durability for daily wear. For those with sensitive skin or metal allergies, stainless steel is a smart choice—it's hypoallergenic and doesn't contain the nickel found in many lower-cost metal frames. The material is also easily adjustable by an optician, so you can get a custom fit that stays comfortable all day.

These frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The rectangle shape and adequate lens height make them suitable for multifocal prescriptions where you need vertical space for the progressive corridor.

Costly returns process

Customer service indicated it would cost $9.95 to return using their supplied label. I packed them securely in the same packaging they came in, and used the supplied label. I was charged $17.03 for my return.

Perfect for small or petite needs

This is my third pair using this design line. If you are size 49 or 51 these are a perfect fit. I used them with progressive lenses, and second pair as computer glasses. Love the bronze color!

Love My New Glasses

This is a great petite frame for my small face. I like the angled cut of the lens at the bottom. I've gotten lots of compliments on my new glasses (including the lady I had adjust my glasses at a big box store). The subtle cross design in the metal on the frame (I got brown) above the lenses looks sharp. I got the new transition xtractive lenses in dark gray with this frame and am very pleased.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Liz Claiborne 456 eyeglasses compatible with progressive lenses?

Yes, the Liz Claiborne 456 frames are fully compatible with progressive (no-line bifocal) lenses. The rectangle shape provides adequate vertical lens height for the progressive corridor, and the semi-rimless design keeps the bottom reading area completely unobstructed. These frames work well with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive prescriptions.

What size should I choose: 49mm or 51mm?

The lens width measurement determines how the frames fit your face. The 49mm size works best for small to medium faces, while the 51mm suits medium to larger faces. Both sizes have the same 16mm bridge width and 135mm temple length. If you have existing glasses that fit well, check the measurements printed on the inside of the temple arm for comparison.

Are these frames good for people with metal allergies?

Yes, the Liz Claiborne 456 frames are made from stainless steel, which is hypoallergenic and a good option for those with metal sensitivities. Stainless steel is lightweight and doesn't contain common allergens like nickel found in some other metal frames, making it a safer choice for sensitive skin.

What are the benefits of semi-rimless frames?

Semi-rimless frames offer several advantages: they're lighter than full-rim frames, provide an unobstructed view of the reading area (ideal for bifocals or progressives), and create a more open, less heavy appearance on the face. The design reveals more of your facial features while still providing the structural support of a top rim to protect the lenses.

Can I add prescription lenses to these frames?

Absolutely. The Liz Claiborne 456 frames are prescription-ready and can accommodate most prescription types, including single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The metal frame construction allows for easy adjustment by an optician to ensure your prescription lenses fit perfectly and align with your eyes.

What comes with the Liz Claiborne 456 eyeglasses?

Your Liz Claiborne 456 eyeglasses come with a matching protective case and microfiber cleaning cloth. The frames are authentic designer eyewear manufactured by Safilo USA and carry a one-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.
