DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Miraflex MAYAN47 eyeglasses bring Italian engineering and child-safe design together in a flexible rectangular frame built for active kids ages 7 and up. These prescription-ready frames feature a 47mm eye size and are part of Miraflex's Flexible & Safe collection, trusted by pediatric eye doctors and parents for over 20 years.

Flexible, Safe, and Virtually Unbreakable

The MAYAN47 is made from a proprietary flexible plastic polymer that bends, twists, and springs back to shape—no metal parts, no hinges to break, no sharp edges. The hinge-free uni-body construction eliminates common failure points found in traditional kids' frames. Parents report these frames survive playground falls, backpack crushes, and the daily wear that breaks conventional eyeglasses. The material is BPA-free, latex-free, rubber-free, and hypoallergenic, making it safe even for children with sensitive skin.

The anatomically designed bridge distributes weight evenly across the nose without nose pads, which are a frequent source of discomfort and breakage in children's eyewear. An adjustable elastic headband keeps the frames securely in place during sports, recess, and active play—so glasses stay on, and kids stay focused.

Prescription-Ready for Strong Prescriptions

Miraflex frames can hold prescription lenses up to +/- 28 diopters, accommodating even high prescriptions, prisms, and special vision correction needs. The flexible frame material supports polycarbonate lenses (recommended for all children's eyewear), high-index lenses, and optional coatings like anti-reflective, blue light filtering, and Transitions photochromic lenses.

Designed for Real Kids

The MAYAN47 comes in 16 vibrant colors—from classic red and navy to bright magenta and neon purple—so kids can pick a pair they'll actually want to wear. The lightweight design and soft, flexible temples mean no pressure points behind the ears. Reviews consistently mention that children don't resist wearing Miraflex glasses, which is critical for vision development and classroom success.

Cheap Knockoff

Instead of Miraflex Mayan 47 glass frames, they sent a cheap Chinese knockoff that is nothing like Miraflex and worth $30 max. And this is the second time this has happened with this company, so I am out about $200, and I'm done. I wish I had written down the name of the company when it happened the first time so that I would not have made the same mistake twice.

Flexframes, are NOT Miraflex

Frequently Asked Questions

What age range are the Miraflex MAYAN47 eyeglasses designed for?

The MAYAN47 is designed for children ages 7 years and older. The 47mm eye size, 14mm bridge, and 124mm temple length provide a comfortable fit for school-age kids. Miraflex offers smaller sizes (Mayan 1 and Mayan 2) for younger children ages 4-8.

Are Miraflex frames safe for active kids and sports?

Yes. Miraflex frames have no metal parts and feature hinge-free construction, eliminating sharp edges and breakage points that can cause injury. The flexible material absorbs impact and bends without cracking. The included adjustable elastic headband keeps glasses securely in place during physical activity, making them ideal for playground use and sports.

Can the Miraflex MAYAN47 hold strong prescription lenses?

Yes. Miraflex frames can accommodate prescription lenses up to +/- 28 diopters and can also fit prisms for special vision correction needs. The flexible frame material works with polycarbonate, high-index, and other lens materials, making them suitable for children with high prescriptions or complex vision requirements.

Are Miraflex eyeglasses hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin?

Yes. All Miraflex frames are BPA-free, latex-free, rubber-free, and hypoallergenic. They're made from a soft, flexible plastic polymer that's gentle on skin and safe for children of all ages, including those with allergies or sensitivities. The frames are also California Prop 65 compliant.

Do Miraflex frames really not break?

Miraflex frames are designed to be virtually unbreakable under normal use. The flexible material bends and twists without cracking, and the hinge-free construction eliminates the most common breakage point. Customer reviews consistently report that these frames survive drops, rough handling, and years of daily wear by active children, though no frame is completely indestructible.

What comes with the Miraflex MAYAN47 eyeglasses?

Each pair includes the Miraflex MAYAN47 frame, a matching adjustable elastic headband to keep glasses securely in place, and a protective zippered case. The headband is especially helpful for active kids and ensures the glasses stay centered on the face for optimal vision correction.

Miraflex MAYAN47 vs. Other Miraflex Kids Frames

Choosing the right size Miraflex frame depends on your child's age and face measurements. The MAYAN47 is designed for children ages 7+ with a 47mm eye size, but Miraflex offers a full size range to grow with your child.

MAYAN47 vs. MAYAN42

The Miraflex MAYAN42 features a smaller 42mm eye size designed for children ages 6-8 years. If your child is on the younger end of the spectrum or has a smaller face, the MAYAN42 may provide a better fit. Both frames share the same flexible, hinge-free construction and safety features. The MAYAN47 offers more room for growth and works better for children approaching age 10, while the MAYAN42 is ideal for early elementary school ages. Both accommodate high prescriptions and come in a wide range of colors.

MAYAN47 vs. NewBaby4

The Miraflex NewBaby4 shares the same 47mm eye size as the MAYAN47 but features a more rounded frame shape. The choice between these two often comes down to style preference and face shape. The MAYAN47's rectangular shape tends to suit oval and round faces, while the NewBaby4's rounded design works well for square or angular faces. Both offer identical safety features, flexibility, and prescription capabilities. If your child prefers a sportier, more rectangular look, the MAYAN47 is the better choice.

MAYAN47 vs. Nick50

The Miraflex Nick50 is the next size up with a 50mm eye size, designed for older children, tweens, and teens. If your child is outgrowing the MAYAN47 or has a larger face, the Nick50 provides more coverage and a better fit. The Nick50 maintains all the flexible, safe features of the Miraflex line while offering a more mature look. For children ages 7-10, the MAYAN47 typically provides the best fit, while the Nick50 is ideal for ages 11 and up.

Our recommendation: The MAYAN47 is the sweet spot for school-age children ages 7-10. It offers enough room for growth without being oversized, comes in the widest color selection, and provides the perfect balance of durability and style for active elementary and middle school students.
