DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Oakley Bunt 8026 prescription eyeglasses bring performance-grade durability to youth eyewear. Designed for active kids who need frames that can keep up with school, sports, and everything in between, the Bunt features a rectangular shape that works for boys and girls alike.

Built from Oakley's proprietary O-Matter material, these frames are engineered to handle the demands of an active childhood. O-Matter is a nylon-based thermoplastic that's 25% lighter than traditional acetate and twice as strong, making the Bunt both comfortable for all-day wear and tough enough to survive drops, bumps, and the occasional backpack toss. The material resists heat and cold without becoming brittle, so these frames maintain their shape and flexibility through temperature extremes.

The Bunt's design takes cues from Oakley's Shifter model, with newly engineered temples that feature Ace-Fit adjustability. This means the temples can be fine-tuned for a personalized fit as your child grows. Integrated screwless hinges provide added safety and security—no loose screws to worry about—while mold-in nosepads and Oakley's Three-Point Fit system hold the lenses in precise optical alignment. This is critical for kids' developing vision, ensuring they're looking through the center of their prescription lenses.

Available in multiple lens widths (46mm, 48mm, and 50mm) with a 15mm bridge and 129mm temples, the Bunt is sized specifically for youth faces. The full-rim construction provides maximum stability for prescription lenses, and the frames are compatible with single-vision, progressive, or specialty lenses. Each pair comes with Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses that are laser-etched with the ellipse logo for proof of authenticity.

Whether your child needs glasses for reading, distance, or all-day wear, the Oakley Bunt 8026 delivers the durability parents want and the style kids will actually wear.

Nope don't order

I ordered a pair of glasses for a child, very limited communication from Designer Optics! If you call, a very arrogant man talks to you like you are dumb. I had to check on the order several times and ask when they will be shipped! OH, if you need to exchange for some reason that's a whole other problem! Please just go to some one local, this place is no bargain!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Oakley Bunt 8026 eyeglasses suitable for sports and active kids?

Yes, the Oakley Bunt 8026 is specifically designed for active youth. The frames are made from lightweight, durable O-Matter material that's twice as strong as traditional acetate and features integrated screwless hinges for added safety during impact. The Ace-Fit adjustable temples and mold-in nosepads ensure a secure fit during physical activities, making them ideal for kids who play sports or have active lifestyles.

What age range are Oakley Bunt eyeglasses designed for?

The Oakley Bunt 8026 is designed for kids aged 6-12 years old. The frames come in three lens width sizes (46mm, 48mm, and 50mm) to accommodate different face sizes within this youth age range. The youth-specific fit ensures proper optical alignment and comfort for growing children.

Can I put prescription lenses in Oakley Bunt frames?

Absolutely. The Oakley Bunt 8026 is prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, or specialty prescription lenses. The frames feature demo lenses that need to be replaced with your child's prescription. Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses come laser-etched with the ellipse logo for proof of authenticity and quality.

What is O-Matter material and why is it good for kids' glasses?

O-Matter is Oakley's proprietary nylon-based thermoplastic frame material. It's 25% lighter than traditional acetate and twice as strong, making it ideal for children's eyewear. O-Matter offers superior heat and cold resistance without becoming brittle, provides controlled flexibility for improved safety during impact, and maintains its shape over time without shifting or deforming.

What sizes does the Oakley Bunt 8026 come in?

The Oakley Bunt 8026 is available in three lens width sizes: 46mm, 48mm, and 50mm. All sizes feature a 15mm bridge width, 129mm temple length, and 38mm lens height. This range of sizes ensures a proper fit for different youth face shapes and sizes within the 6-12 age range.

How durable are Oakley Bunt eyeglasses compared to other kids' frames?

The Oakley Bunt is exceptionally durable thanks to its O-Matter construction and integrated screwless hinges. The O-Matter material is formulated for high durability with controlled flexibility for improved safety during impact, and it resists ultraviolet radiation, humidity, thermal shock, and chemical exposure. This makes the Bunt significantly more durable than standard plastic or acetate kids' frames.

Oakley Bunt 8026 vs. Other Youth Eyeglasses

Bunt 8026 vs. Crosslink XS 8002: Sport vs. Everyday

If you're choosing between the Oakley Bunt 8026 and the Crosslink XS 8002, the decision comes down to how your child will use their glasses. The Crosslink XS is Oakley's sport-focused youth frame, featuring Unobtainium earsocks that increase grip when wet and adjustable wire core temples designed for high-impact activities. It's the better choice if your child plays competitive sports like basketball, soccer, or baseball and needs glasses that won't budge during intense movement.

The Bunt 8026, on the other hand, offers a more versatile rectangular design that transitions easily from classroom to playground. While it's still built with the same durable O-Matter material and can handle active play, its cleaner aesthetic and Ace-Fit temples make it a better all-around choice for kids who need one pair for everything. The Bunt's screwless integrated hinges also provide added safety without the sporty bulk of the Crosslink XS. At $123, the Bunt sits in the middle of the Crosslink XS price range ($75.48-$135), offering excellent value for a do-it-all youth frame.

Bunt 8026 vs. Marshal XS 8005: Rectangle vs. Round

The Marshal XS 8005 offers a completely different look with its round, vintage-inspired shape. Starting at $85.05, it's the most affordable option in Oakley's youth lineup. The Marshal XS works well for kids who prefer a softer, more classic aesthetic, but the round shape is less universally flattering than the Bunt's rectangle design. For kids with rounder faces, the Bunt's rectangular shape provides better balance and definition.

Both frames use the same O-Matter construction and youth-specific sizing, so durability is comparable. The choice really comes down to style preference and face shape. If your child gravitates toward trendy, retro looks and has an oval or longer face, the Marshal XS is worth considering. But for maximum versatility and a shape that works with most face types, the Bunt 8026 is the safer bet.
