DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Oakley Manorburn 9479 sunglasses deliver everyday versatility in a refined square silhouette. Inspired by the Sylas but softer in profile, the Manorburn adapts to a wide range of face shapes with its medium 56mm lens width and keyhole nosebridge—a design that balances classic style with modern Oakley performance.

Prizm Lens Technology for Enhanced Vision

Every Manorburn features Oakley's Prizm lens technology, engineered to fine-tune color and contrast by selectively filtering light wavelengths. Unlike standard tints that simply darken your view, Prizm lenses enhance specific colors while muting others, revealing details you'd otherwise miss. Whether you choose Prizm Violet for vibrant everyday wear, Prizm Grey for bright conditions, or polarized options like Prizm Black Polarized and Prizm Tungsten Polarized for glare reduction on water and roads, you're getting lenses built on 15+ years of Oakley research.

All lenses are made from Plutonite, Oakley's impact-resistant polycarbonate that blocks 100% of UVA, UVB, UVC, and harmful blue light up to 400nm. High Definition Optics (HDO) ensures razor-sharp clarity at every angle, even through the frame's curved lens.

Lightweight O-Matter Frame & Ace Fit Temples

The full-rim frame is injection-molded from O-Matter, Oakley's proprietary nylon composite that's 25% lighter than acetate and twice as strong. It flexes under stress without becoming brittle, resists sweat, and holds up to temperature extremes—ideal for all-day wear. The Manorburn's Ace Fit temples are a standout feature: an eye care professional can heat and adjust them to your exact head shape for a truly custom fit, eliminating pressure points and improving retention.

The frame measures 56-17-149mm and weighs just ounces, making it comfortable for extended wear whether you're driving, at the beach, or running errands. The iconic Oakley ellipse logo appears on the temples in a color-matched finish.

Prescription-Ready for Custom Vision

The Manorburn is fully prescription-ready and accepts Oakley Authentic Prescription lenses, including single vision and progressive options. Prescription lenses come laser-etched with the Oakley ellipse logo for authenticity. This makes the Manorburn a practical choice if you need vision correction but don't want to sacrifice Oakley's optical performance or style.

Available in 12 colorways ranging from matte black and clear frames to bold options like transparent light curry and olive ink, the Manorburn offers enough variety to match your personal style. It's a straightforward, well-built frame that does what it's supposed to do: look good and perform reliably, day after day.

Oakley Manorburn 9479 Sunglasses

I loved the glasses, but was very disappointed in the shipping time. I had to reach out and ask about when they were going to get shipped due to it being past the amount of days and received a response that said it was delayed due to not being in stock and had to get it from the distributor. I needed them by a certain date due to going away and had to go and purchase another pair of glasses. No updates were given to me about the delay until I reach out.

Prescription lenses are laser-etched with the Oakley ellipse logo for authenticity. The frame's 56mm lens width and full-rim design accommodate a wide range of prescriptions.

What is Prizm lens technology in the Oakley Manorburn?

Prizm is Oakley's proprietary lens technology that enhances color and contrast by selectively filtering specific wavelengths of light. Unlike standard tints that simply darken your view, Prizm lenses boost certain colors while muting others to reveal more detail in your environment. All Prizm lenses provide 100% UV protection and are made from impact-resistant Plutonite material.

What is Ace Fit technology on the Manorburn temples?

Ace Fit technology allows eye care professionals to heat and mold the Manorburn's temples to your specific head shape and size for a custom fit. This adjustability helps eliminate pressure points, enhances comfort during extended wear, and improves retention so the sunglasses stay securely in place during activity.

What size are the Oakley Manorburn 9479 sunglasses?

The Oakley Manorburn 9479 is a medium-sized frame with dimensions of 56mm lens width, 17mm bridge width, and 149mm temple length. The square shape with keyhole nosebridge adapts well to a variety of face shapes, making it suitable for most adults seeking an everyday lifestyle frame.

What is O-Matter frame material?

O-Matter is Oakley's proprietary nylon-based composite frame material that's 25% lighter than acetate and twice as strong. It's engineered to flex under stress without becoming brittle, resists sweat and temperature extremes, and provides all-day comfort. The material's durability and lightweight properties make it ideal for both active and everyday wear.

How does the Oakley Manorburn compare to the Holbrook?

The Manorburn is inspired by Oakley's Sylas model and features more curves than the distinctly square Holbrook. Both use O-Matter frames and accept Prizm lenses, but the Manorburn has Ace Fit adjustable temples and a slightly softer, more lifestyle-focused aesthetic. The Manorburn is positioned as an everyday wear frame at a lower price point than many Holbrook variants.

Oakley Manorburn vs. Sylas vs. Holbrook: Which Square Frame Is Right for You?

If you're shopping for an Oakley square frame, the Manorburn 9479 sits between two well-known models: the Sylas (its official "cousin") and the iconic Holbrook. Here's how they stack up.

Manorburn vs. Sylas: Cousins with Different Priorities

Oakley designed the Manorburn as a refined take on the Sylas, and the family resemblance is clear. Both share a similar square-with-curves silhouette and O-Matter construction, but the Manorburn adds Ace Fit adjustable temples—a feature the Sylas lacks. This means an optician can heat and mold the Manorburn's temples to your exact head shape for a custom fit, eliminating pressure points.

The Sylas counters with thinner, more tapered temples that Oakley markets as "hat compatible," though in practice the difference is subtle. Some Oakley Forum users have noted quality concerns with the Sylas, including lens rattle and a flimsier feel, while the Manorburn has received praise for its solid construction and value. Both frames accept Prizm lenses and prescriptions, and pricing is nearly identical ($114.67–$213 for Sylas vs. $107.72–$213 for Manorburn).

Choose the Manorburn if: You want Ace Fit adjustability and a slightly more refined, versatile aesthetic. Choose the Sylas if: You prefer the thinnest possible temples and a more understated look.

Manorburn vs. Holbrook: Modern Versatility vs. Iconic Heritage

The Holbrook 9102 is Oakley's most recognizable lifestyle frame, inspired by 1940s-era design and worn by everyone from snowboarders to everyday wearers. It's distinctly square with metal rivets and a bold presence. The Manorburn, by contrast, has softer curves and a more contemporary, low-key vibe.

Both use O-Matter frames and Prizm lenses, but the Manorburn's Ace Fit temples and lighter overall feel give it an edge in comfort and customization. The Holbrook's thicker temples and keyhole bridge create a more substantial look, which some prefer for style but others find less comfortable during extended wear. The Holbrook also commands a slightly higher starting price ($124.50 vs. $107.72) and offers a wider range of special editions.

Choose the Manorburn if: You want a lighter, more adaptable frame with custom-fit temples and a modern aesthetic. Choose the Holbrook if: You prefer Oakley's most iconic square design with a bolder, heritage-driven look.

All three frames are prescription-ready, UV-protective, and built to last. Your choice comes down to fit preference, style, and whether you value the Manorburn's Ace Fit adjustability or the Holbrook's unmistakable presence.
