DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Flexon AUTOFLEX 44 eyeglasses combine classic double-bridge styling with advanced memory metal engineering for men who need frames that can handle real life. Built with Flexon's proprietary titanium-nickel alloy in the bridge and temples, these full-rim frames flex, bend, and return to their original shape—making them nearly indestructible for active lifestyles and demanding work environments.

Memory Metal Technology That Actually Works

Flexon uses the same shape-memory alloy NASA developed for missile heat shields. The result is a frame that's lighter than conventional metal, more durable than plastic, and genuinely flexible. The memory metal construction means these frames require minimal adjustment and resist the everyday wear that breaks ordinary eyeglasses. Adjustable nose pads let you dial in a custom fit that stays comfortable through long days.

The double-bridge design isn't just for looks—it adds a second point of support across the nose, distributing the frame's weight more evenly and preventing slippage. Originally engineered for aviators who needed extra structural integrity, the double bridge gives the AUTOFLEX 44 both its distinctive squared aviator silhouette and genuine functional benefits for all-day wear.

Built for People Who Are Rough on Glasses

Real-world feedback tells the story. One customer who works as a pump and tank plumber—constantly taking his glasses on and off throughout the day—reported that his lenses wear out before the frames do. He's on his second pair of Flexon Autoflex frames, and his first pair is still usable as a backup. Available in four lens widths (55mm, 57mm, 59mm, and 61mm) and multiple finishes including Brown, Natural, and GEP, the AUTOFLEX 44 is prescription-ready and ships with spring hinges for added comfort and durability.

Thank you!

Flexon Autoflex frames.

I am a Pump and Tank Plumber. We install all kinds of underground and above ground fuel and chemical storage tanks. My eye glasses are on and off of my face so much thru out the day, I can’t even tell you. I have been thru quite a few pairs of glasses thru out the years and these frames are the best by far. I admit I am very rough on my glasses, the lenses never outlast these frames… Never. These frames are ridgid yet very flexible. I am on my second pair of these frames, yet my last pair of Flexon Autoflex frames are still useable. “ They are now on standby “ . If you are rough on your frames, put them in your pockets, or are in the construction trades, these frames are for you. I can’t say enough good things about these frames.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Flexon AUTOFLEX 44 frames prescription-ready?

Yes, the Flexon AUTOFLEX 44 is fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, and bifocal lenses. The full-rim metal frame provides maximum stability for lens mounting, and the adjustable nose pads ensure a secure fit once your prescription lenses are installed.

What is Flexon memory metal and how does it work?

Flexon memory metal is a titanium-nickel alloy (NiTiNOL) that returns to its original shape after being bent, twisted, or flexed. The same material was used by NASA for heat shields. In the AUTOFLEX 44, memory metal is integrated into the bridge and temples, making the frames exceptionally durable, lightweight, and resistant to permanent deformation from everyday stress.

What are the available sizes for the Flexon AUTOFLEX 44?

The AUTOFLEX 44 is available in four lens widths to fit different face sizes: 55mm, 57mm, 59mm, and 61mm. All sizes feature the same square aviator shape with double-bridge design. The frames also come with adjustable nose pads, allowing further customization for a comfortable, secure fit across various face shapes.

Why does the AUTOFLEX 44 have a double bridge?

The double bridge adds structural stability and distributes the frame's weight more evenly across your nose, reducing pressure points and preventing slippage during extended wear. Originally designed for aviator frames to increase durability, the double bridge also gives the AUTOFLEX 44 its distinctive architectural look while providing genuine functional benefits for all-day comfort.

How durable are Flexon AUTOFLEX frames for active lifestyles?

Flexon AUTOFLEX frames are exceptionally durable for demanding use. Customer reviews highlight their resilience in construction and industrial work environments, with one plumber reporting that his lenses wear out before the frames do. The memory metal construction allows the frames to withstand repeated bending and stress without breaking or losing their shape, making them ideal for people who are rough on eyewear.

What warranty comes with Flexon AUTOFLEX 44 eyeglasses?

Flexon frames typically come with a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty period varies by retailer but commonly ranges from 1 to 2 years. The memory metal construction is designed for long-term durability, and the frames require minimal adjustment over time compared to conventional metal frames.

Flexon AUTOFLEX 44 vs Other Flexon Memory Metal Frames

If you're drawn to the AUTOFLEX 44's combination of durability and distinctive double-bridge styling, you might also consider other frames in Flexon's memory metal collection. Here's how they compare.

AUTOFLEX 44 vs AUTOFLEX DESPERADO

Both frames share Flexon's signature memory metal construction, making them equally durable for demanding lifestyles. The key difference is design: the AUTOFLEX 44 features a squared aviator shape with a double bridge, while the DESPERADO offers a different silhouette. If you're specifically after the architectural look and weight distribution benefits of the double bridge, the AUTOFLEX 44 is the clear choice. The DESPERADO runs slightly lower in price ($134–$145 vs $141–$156) but offers fewer size options.

AUTOFLEX 44 vs AUTOFLEX FRANK

The AUTOFLEX FRANK delivers the same memory metal technology at a more accessible $108 price point. It's an excellent option if you want Flexon's legendary durability but prefer a simpler frame design or need to stay within a tighter budget. However, if the double-bridge aviator aesthetic is important to you—or if you need the enhanced weight distribution for all-day comfort—the AUTOFLEX 44's additional investment is justified.

AUTOFLEX 44 vs Flexon 600

The Flexon 600 is the most affordable comparison at $102, offering memory metal construction in a straightforward design. It's a solid entry point to the Flexon brand and works well for customers who prioritize function over form. The AUTOFLEX 44, by contrast, combines that same durability with a bold, statement-making double-bridge design and a wider range of sizes (55mm to 61mm lens widths). For customers who wear their glasses in professional or social settings where style matters, the AUTOFLEX 44's distinctive look and superior fit options make it worth the upgrade.

Bottom line: The AUTOFLEX 44 sits at the premium end of Flexon's memory metal lineup, justified by its unique double-bridge design, superior weight distribution, and extensive sizing. If you need frames that can survive a tough job site and look sharp in a meeting, the AUTOFLEX 44 delivers both.
