DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Flexon EP8006 eyeglasses bring together modern materials and classic round styling in a versatile unisex frame. Designed for active lifestyles, these prescription-ready glasses feature full-rim acetate fronts made from lightweight Ultem paired with Flexon memory metal temples that flex, bend, and return to their original shape.

Hybrid Construction: Ultem Acetate Meets Memory Metal

The EP8006's front is constructed from Ultem, a high-performance thermoplastic known for exceptional durability and feather-light comfort. Ultem resists cracking and breaking while weighing significantly less than conventional plastics. The temples incorporate Flexon's proprietary memory metal—a titanium-nickel alloy originally developed for aerospace applications—embedded in the bridge and temple cores. This allows the frame to withstand bending and twisting that would permanently damage ordinary frames. Textured rubber temple sleeves and adjustable nose pads ensure a secure, customized fit for extended wear.

Round Shape for Angular Faces

The 50mm round panto shape works particularly well on square and rectangular face shapes, where the curved lines soften sharper features and create visual balance. The full-rim design provides maximum lens stability and works with single-vision, progressive, and bifocal prescriptions. Available in four matte finishes—Matte Grey, Matte Black, Matte Tortoise, and Camel—the EP8006 adapts to professional and casual settings alike.

With a 20mm keyhole bridge and 145mm temples, these frames offer a medium fit suitable for most adults. The Flexon memory metal construction means less time at the optician for adjustments and greater confidence during daily wear. Whether you're looking for durable everyday eyeglasses or a reliable backup pair, the EP8006 delivers Flexon's signature resilience in a contemporary round silhouette.

Terrible experience

I ordered my glasses the first week of June. I was told manufacture back order so they would ship 9/1, then that date was moved to November so I changed the model and got them to ship the first week of October, finally. They arrived broken, and after submitting pictures to your team, I haven’t heard anything about how to get a refund or replacement in over a week. This is horrible. Horrible experience and I will never tell anyone aside from my worst enemy to do business with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Flexon EP8006 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Flexon EP8006 is fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The full-rim design provides secure lens mounting, and the 50mm lens width and 43mm lens height offer sufficient vertical space for progressive prescriptions. Your optician can fit these frames with your exact prescription.

What is Flexon memory metal and how does it work?

Flexon memory metal is a proprietary titanium-nickel alloy (NiTiNOL) that can bend, twist, or flex and return to its original shape. Originally developed for NASA applications, this material is embedded in the EP8006's temples and bridge, making the frame significantly more durable than conventional eyeglasses. The memory metal construction reduces the need for frequent adjustments and withstands accidental bending.

What is Ultem and why is it used in the EP8006 frames?

Ultem is a high-performance thermoplastic polyetherimide known for being extremely lightweight, durable, and resistant to cracking or breaking. In the EP8006, Ultem is used for the front acetate portion, providing a comfortable, barely-there feel while maintaining structural integrity. Ultem frames typically weigh just 7-8 grams and can withstand temperature extremes without warping.

What face shapes work best with round eyeglasses like the EP8006?

Round eyeglasses like the Flexon EP8006 are especially flattering on square, rectangular, and angular face shapes because the curved lines help soften sharper features and create visual balance. They can also work well on oval faces depending on frame size and proportions. The 50mm lens width offers a medium fit suitable for most adults.

Do the Flexon EP8006 frames have adjustable nose pads?

Yes, the Flexon EP8006 features adjustable nose pads that allow for a customized, comfortable fit. The keyhole bridge design combined with adjustable pads ensures the frames sit properly on various nose shapes and sizes, reducing pressure points and preventing slippage during wear.

How do I care for Flexon memory metal eyeglasses?

Flexon frames require minimal maintenance due to their memory metal construction. Clean them with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaner, and store them in a protective case when not in use. While the memory metal temples can flex and return to shape, the Ultem front should be handled normally. Flexon frames typically come with a manufacturer's warranty covering defects.

Flexon EP8006 vs. Flexon 623: Round Frame Showdown

Both the EP8006 and the Flexon 623 offer round styling with Flexon's signature memory metal technology, but they take different construction approaches. The Flexon 623 is a full memory metal frame with a 46-48mm lens width, delivering classic all-metal aesthetics at a lower price ($102.15). It's ideal if you want maximum flexibility throughout the entire frame and prefer a smaller, more compact round shape.

The EP8006 uses a hybrid design: Ultem acetate fronts paired with memory metal temples. This gives you the best of both worlds—the lightweight, temperature-resistant properties of Ultem in the front, plus the flex-and-return durability of memory metal in the temples. The 50mm lens width accommodates progressive prescriptions more easily, and the textured rubber temple sleeves provide enhanced grip. At $134.77, you're paying a premium for the advanced Ultem material and larger lens size.

Choose the EP8006 if: You want a larger round frame with modern hybrid construction, need space for progressive lenses, or prefer the barely-there feel of Ultem acetate combined with memory metal temples.

Choose the 623 if: You prefer a smaller, all-metal round frame with classic styling, want to save about $30, or like the idea of memory metal flexibility throughout the entire frame structure.

Flexon EP8006 vs. Flexon E1042: Shape Matters

The Flexon E1042 ($140-$149) offers full memory metal construction in a rectangular shape, making it the alternative for customers who aren't sure round frames suit their face. Rectangular frames work better on round or oval faces, while the EP8006's round shape excels on square and angular faces.

If you have a square or rectangular face and want to soften your features, the EP8006's round panto shape is the better choice. The curved lines create visual balance and the Ultem front keeps weight minimal. If you have a rounder face and need frames that add definition, the E1042's angular lines will serve you better—though you'll give up the EP8006's unique Ultem construction.
