DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Smith Pacer RX prescription eyeglasses bring together a classic square frame shape and modern performance features for all-day wear. Built with Smith's bio-based Evolve™ frame material, these frames stay lightweight and durable. These frames work equally well at a desk or on the trail. The medium fit makes them comfortable for extended wear without the bulk of traditional sport frames.

QuickFit Temples and Secure Fit

What sets the Pacer apart is the QuickFit temple system—a wire-core mechanism molded into the temple arms that lets you bend and adjust the fit to match your head shape. Megol nose pads and temple grips provide a non-slip hold, so the frames stay put during activity. AutoLock hinges hold the frames open for easy one-handed on and off, a practical detail when you're juggling gear or groceries.

Premium Lens Technology

All Smith clear lenses come standard with premium anti-reflective coating on both the front and back surfaces, reducing glare and eye fatigue during long screen sessions or driving. The hydroleophobic coating repels water, dirt, and grease for easier cleaning. Lenses are made from lightweight polycarbonate for impact resistance and optical clarity. You can add photochromic or blue light filtering options when ordering your prescription.

The Pacer is prescription-ready and accepts single vision or progressive lenses. Available in six colors including Matte Black, Tortoise, Summit Crystal, Matte Ash Tortoise, Crystal Komodo, and Crystal Slate. Frame measurements are 54mm lens width, 18mm bridge, and 145mm temple length—a versatile size that works for most face shapes.

Never receieved

We ordered glasses over a month ago, paid for shipping in 7 to 10 days. We still have not received this order. I have reached out to customer service three times, and they have not been helpful. The most recent time I reached out, they told me they were out of the office for a full week and would “respond when they returned”. Still have not received a response.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Smith Pacer eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Smith Pacer RX frames are designed specifically for prescription lenses. They accept single vision, bifocal, and progressive prescriptions. All Smith clear lenses come standard with premium anti-reflective coating, scratch-resistant hard coating, and hydroleophobic coating that repels water and dirt.

What is the Evolve frame material made from?

Smith's Evolve frame material is a bio-based, eco-friendly material made from renewable castor plants (Rilsan Clear). It's over 53% bio-based, creating lightweight and durable frames that are more sustainable than traditional petroleum-based plastics while maintaining the same performance and comfort.

How do the QuickFit temples work on the Pacer frames?

QuickFit temples feature a wire-core mechanism molded within the temple arms that allows you to bend and customize the fit to your head shape. This adjustability ensures a secure, comfortable fit without needing to visit an optician for adjustments. The temples are also covered with Megol rubber for a non-slip grip.

What size are the Smith Pacer eyeglasses?

The Smith Pacer has a medium fit with measurements of 54mm lens width, 18mm bridge width, and 145mm temple length. The 4-base lens curvature provides a subtle wraparound that's comfortable for everyday wear without being too flat or too curved. This size works well for most face shapes.

Can I add blue light filtering or photochromic lenses to the Pacer?

Yes, Smith offers optional lens upgrades including blue light filtering lenses (which reduce eye fatigue from digital screens) and photochromic lenses (which automatically adjust to changing light conditions). These upgrades are available when you order your prescription through authorized retailers.

Are the Smith Pacer frames suitable for active wear?

Absolutely. The Pacer is designed to transition between work and active lifestyles. The lightweight Evolve bio-based frame, Megol non-slip nose pads and temple grips, and adjustable QuickFit temples ensure the frames stay secure during movement. The polycarbonate lenses are impact-resistant and built for daily and active wear.

Smith Pacer vs. Overland vs. Seeker: Which RX Frame Is Right for You?

All three models share Smith's core prescription eyewear technology—bio-based Evolve frames, QuickFit adjustable temples, Megol non-slip grips, and premium anti-reflective lens coatings—at the same $154 price point. The difference comes down to frame shape and intended use.

Choose the Pacer if you want the most versatile option. The classic square shape flatters most face shapes and transitions easily from office to outdoor activities. It's the middle ground between the Overland's retro vibe and the Seeker's sport focus.

Choose the Overland if you prefer larger, retro-inspired rectangular frames with more coverage. The Overland works well for larger faces or anyone who likes an oversized, vintage aesthetic. Same features as the Pacer, just a different silhouette.

Choose the Seeker if you spend significant time outdoors or in high-glare environments. The pilot-inspired aviator shape with integrated side shields provides extra peripheral light protection, making it ideal for trail running, cycling, or fishing. It's the sportiest of the three but less versatile for professional settings.

All three frames accept single vision and progressive prescriptions, and all offer optional photochromic and blue light filtering lens upgrades. You can't go wrong with any of them—it's purely a matter of which shape fits your face and lifestyle best.
