DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Under Armour UA9003 eyeglasses bring the brand's athletic DNA to prescription eyewear designed for active kids and young teens. These rectangular frames combine durable acetate construction with bold, sporty styling that appeals to young wearers who want eyewear that keeps up with their lifestyle.

Built for Active Kids

The UA9003 features a full-rim acetate frame with polyamide temple accents in eye-catching color combinations. Available in two lens widths (48mm and 51mm) with a 15mm bridge and 130mm temples, these frames accommodate growing faces. The rectangular shape provides good coverage and a modern look, while the single-bridge design and lightweight materials ensure all-day comfort during school, sports, and play. The vibrant temple colors—from neon green and blue to classic black and grey—let kids express their personality.

Under Armour eyewear is built on the same principles as the brand's performance apparel: durability, comfort, and function. While the UA9003 doesn't feature the ArmourFusion titanium-Grilamid construction or ArmourSight lens technology found in Under Armour's premium performance sunglasses, it delivers solid everyday durability at an accessible price point. The acetate material is flexible enough to handle the bumps of daily wear while maintaining its shape.

Prescription-Ready for Clear Vision

These frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. Parents can add impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses for extra protection during sports and outdoor activities, along with anti-reflective coatings to reduce glare from screens and classroom lighting. The frame's construction supports a wide range of prescriptions, making it a practical choice for kids who need reliable vision correction.

Available in crystal clear, havana tortoise, blue, black, and blue-grey colorways, the UA9003 offers options for different tastes. The 48mm size works well for younger children (approximately ages 7-10), while the 51mm accommodates older kids and teens with larger faces.

Good looking frames for young boy at an even better price!

Very cute frames for our 7 1/2 yo grandson. He picked them out himself in black with grey and feels very grown up wearing them. Since he has almost no bridge like most children, the glasses can slip down his nose. Solved the problem by finding silicone ear clips for children on Amazon. They don't rub his ears and keep his glasses up exactly where they need to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Under Armour UA9003 eyeglasses suitable for sports?

The UA9003 frames are durable acetate eyeglasses designed for everyday active wear, including light sports and outdoor play. For high-impact sports like basketball, football, or baseball, dedicated sports goggles that meet ASTM F803 safety standards are recommended. However, these frames can be fitted with impact-resistant polycarbonate lenses for added protection during recreational activities.

What size Under Armour UA9003 should I choose for my child?

The UA9003 comes in two lens widths: 48mm (better for younger children ages 7-10 or smaller faces) and 51mm (for older kids, teens, or larger faces). Both sizes have a 15mm bridge width and 130mm temple length. The best way to determine fit is to measure your child's current glasses or try the frames on, as fit can vary based on nose bridge height and face width.

Can I add prescription lenses to the UA9003 frames?

Yes, the Under Armour UA9003 frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. You can customize them with various lens materials including polycarbonate (recommended for kids due to impact resistance), anti-reflective coatings, blue light blocking, and even Transitions photochromic lenses that darken in sunlight.

Are Under Armour eyeglasses durable for active kids?

Under Armour eyeglasses are designed with active lifestyles in mind, featuring lightweight acetate materials that offer flexibility and durability. The UA9003 uses acetate and polyamide construction that can withstand daily wear better than basic plastic frames. While they're built to be durable, all eyeglasses should be handled with care and stored in a protective case when not in use.

What's the difference between the UA9003 and UA5009 Under Armour frames?

The UA9003 is a youth/kids frame with smaller sizing (48-51mm lens width) and sporty color-blocked temples designed for children and young teens. The UA5009 is an adult men's frame with larger sizing (52-54mm lens width) and a more mature rectangular design. Both are full-rim acetate frames, but the UA9003 features brighter accent colors appealing to younger wearers.

Do these frames come with a warranty?

Authentic Under Armour eyeglasses typically come with a manufacturer's warranty against defects. The specific warranty terms vary by retailer, but most authorized dealers offer at least a one-year warranty on frames. Always purchase from authorized retailers to ensure you receive genuine Under Armour products with valid warranty coverage.

Under Armour UA9003 vs. Similar Kids Eyeglasses

Choosing the right eyeglasses for active kids means balancing durability, style, fit, and value. Here's how the Under Armour UA9003 compares to other popular options in our collection.

UA9003 vs. Under Armour UA5009 (Adult Frame)

If you're shopping for a teen or have a child with a larger face, you might be deciding between the youth UA9003 and the adult UA5009. The UA9003 offers 48-51mm lens widths with vibrant, sporty temple colors (neon green, blue, grey) that appeal to younger wearers. The UA5009 steps up to 52-54mm sizing with wire-core temples for enhanced stability and more subdued color options like blue horn, grey horn, and tortoise. While the UA5009 costs more ($105-119), it provides a more mature look for teens transitioning to adult styling. Stick with the UA9003 for kids ages 7-12 who want bold athletic style; consider the UA5009 for teens 13+ or those who prefer understated frames.

UA9003 vs. Ray-Ban Junior RY1535

The Ray-Ban Junior RY1535 represents a premium alternative with iconic brand recognition and classic rectangular styling. Both frames use durable acetate construction and offer similar sizing, but the Ray-Ban carries a higher price tag ($69-122) and more conservative aesthetic. The UA9003 wins on value and sporty appeal—perfect for kids who identify with athletic brands and want frames that look fast. The Ray-Ban Junior is the better choice if you prefer heritage styling that won't look dated as your child grows, and you're willing to invest more upfront for the Ray-Ban quality reputation.

UA9003 vs. Flexon KIDS J4000

For parents whose kids are genuinely hard on glasses—sitting on them, dropping them, bending them—the Flexon KIDS J4000 ($86-97) offers memory metal technology that springs back to shape after bending. This makes Flexon frames nearly indestructible compared to standard acetate. However, the metal construction is heavier and less sporty-looking than the lightweight acetate UA9003. If your child has already broken multiple pairs of glasses, the Flexon's durability justifies the higher cost. If your child is reasonably careful and wants athletic styling, the UA9003 delivers better value and a look they'll actually want to wear.

Our recommendation: The Under Armour UA9003 hits the sweet spot for most active kids—durable enough for daily wear, sporty enough to appeal to young athletes, and priced accessibly for growing children who will need new frames as their prescription changes. The bold color options and Under Armour branding make these frames kids will actually be excited to wear, which matters when you're trying to keep glasses on a reluctant wearer.
