Found in 1919 by members of the Feinbloom family, Champion was created to bring fresh, new designs to the world of sportswear. Set shop in Rochester, NY, Champion was initially named Knickerbocker Knitting Mills. Through years of innovation, Champion developed a line of sportswear and sweaters, partnering with schools and universities across the US for their uniforms, club jerseys, and sports team jerseys.

 

Champion then partnered with Moe’s Sport Shop to introduce collegiate insignia sweatshirts & tees, which ultimately gave birth to collegiate apparel as we know it today. Champion was also the pioneer of the first-ever hooded sweatshirt or “hoodie”, developed as a practical garment for athletes to wear in-between game time and practice sessions.

 

Champion introduced their signature C in 1956, and the rest as they say is history.
