DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Persol 3268S sunglasses bring a bold, retro-inspired rectangular shape to one of Italy's most respected eyewear brands. With its clean lines and substantial acetate construction, the 3268S delivers the kind of confident, understated style that Persol has perfected over more than a century of craftsmanship.

Looking at the frame, you'll notice the distinctive tortoise havana patterns and solid black acetate options—each finished with Persol's signature attention to detail. The rectangular lenses measure 53mm wide with a 20mm bridge and 145mm temples, creating a medium fit that works across different face shapes. The full-rim acetate frame feels solid without being heavy, and the single bridge design keeps the profile streamlined.

What sets this frame apart are the details you might miss at first glance. The iconic Silver Arrow adorns each temple—a functional hinge design inspired by ancient warrior swords that's been a Persol trademark since the 1930s. Many Persol frames also incorporate the Meflecto flexible temple system, which uses metal cylinders embedded in the acetate to let the temples adapt to your head shape, reducing pressure during all-day wear. The frame is prescription-ready, so you can add your Rx to any of the lens options, including polarized versions that cut glare for driving and outdoor activities. All lenses provide 100% UV protection.

The 3268S is available in nine color combinations, from classic black with green lenses (95/31) to rich havana tortoise with brown polarized lenses (24/57). Each variant is handmade in Italy using cellulose acetate—a naturally derived, non-toxic material that goes through dozens of manual processes to achieve its depth and durability.

Persol, meaning "for the sun" in Italian, was founded in 1917 by Giuseppe Ratti in Turin to create protective eyewear for pilots and race car drivers. That functional heritage still shows: these aren't delicate fashion frames. They're built to be worn daily, with wire-core temples that curve comfortably behind the ears and a construction quality that justifies the investment. If you're looking for rectangular sunglasses with real Italian pedigree and the versatility to go from prescription to sun lenses, the 3268S is a solid choice that won't look dated in five years.

Great glasses, small error

The good: correct glasses, great Rx, timely delivery.

The not-so-good: the glasses arrived with a small linear scratch on the inner side of the left lens. After spending nearly 600.00 dollars with Rx, I expect the glasses to arrive PERFECT. So why didn’t I immediately ask for exchange? I timed the glasses arrival just before a pre planned tropical vacation with my family.
Since I wore them during that trip, I thought it would have voided my ability to send them back to be redone.
I wasn’t planning on writing a less-than-perfect review, but I have received multiple emails to do so.
Perhaps just a little more attention to detail before a premium product leaves the warehouse?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get prescription lenses in the Persol 3268S?

Yes, the Persol 3268S is fully prescription-ready. You can add single vision, progressive, or bifocal prescription lenses to any frame variant. The rectangular shape and 53mm lens width provide plenty of room for most prescriptions, and you can choose from standard plastic, polycarbonate, or premium lens materials. Persol frames are designed to accommodate prescription lenses while maintaining their sleek profile.

What is the Meflecto system in Persol sunglasses?

The Meflecto system is Persol's patented flexible temple technology, first introduced in the 1930s. It uses metal or nylon cylinders embedded in the acetate temples, intersected by a flexible steel core. This allows the temples to bend and adapt to your head shape, distributing pressure evenly and eliminating the discomfort that rigid frames can cause during extended wear. The system requires over 10 additional manufacturing steps compared to standard frames.

What does the arrow symbol on Persol sunglasses mean?

The Silver Arrow is Persol's iconic trademark, introduced in the late 1930s and inspired by the swords of ancient warriors. It serves as both a functional hinge component and a decorative element that distinguishes authentic Persol eyewear. The arrow has evolved through over 30 variations, with the current "Supreme Arrow" being the most recognized version. Founder Giuseppe Ratti called it "my warhorse" when he created it.

Are Persol 3268S sunglasses made in Italy?

Yes, all Persol acetate sunglasses, including the 3268S, are handmade in Italy near Turin, where the brand was founded in 1917. Each frame is crafted from cellulose acetate through approximately 30 manual processes by skilled Italian artisans. The frames feature Persol's commitment to Italian craftsmanship, quality materials, and meticulous attention to detail that has defined the brand for over a century.

What size are the Persol 3268S sunglasses?

The Persol 3268S measures 53mm lens width, 20mm bridge width, and 145mm temple length (53-20-145). This is considered a standard medium size that fits most face shapes comfortably. The rectangular shape provides good coverage without being oversized, and the 20mm bridge works well for average to wider nose bridges. For reference, over 90% of Persol customers find the standard size offers the correct fit.

Which Persol 3268S variants have polarized lenses?

The Persol 3268S is available with polarized lenses in three variants: 24/57 (Havana frame with brown polarized lenses), 95/58 (Black frame with polar green lenses), and 95/48 (Black frame with polar black lenses). Polarized lenses remove nearly 100% of surface glare, making them ideal for driving, water activities, and bright outdoor conditions. All variants include 100% UV protection.

Persol 3268S vs 3269S vs 3048S: Which Rectangular Frame Is Right for You?

If you're drawn to Persol's rectangular acetate frames, you're likely comparing the 3268S against its close relatives. Here's how these three models stack up.

3268S vs 3269S: Nearly Identical Siblings

The 3269S is the 3268S's closest cousin, with nearly identical styling and construction. The key difference is size: the 3269S features a 54mm lens width compared to the 3268S's 53mm. That single millimeter might not sound like much, but it translates to a noticeably larger presence on your face. If you have a wider face or prefer more coverage, the 3269S delivers. If you want a slightly more compact, versatile fit, the 3268S is the better choice. Both share the same Italian craftsmanship, Silver Arrow details, and prescription-ready construction. Price-wise, they're nearly identical ($175-$427 for the 3268S vs $188-$437 for the 3269S), so your decision comes down to fit preference.

3268S vs 3048S: Premium vs Accessible

The 3048S represents Persol's more accessible rectangular option, priced lower at $174-$333. It's a proven, popular model with a slightly smaller profile that works especially well for smaller to medium faces. The 3268S offers a bolder, more contemporary rectangular shape with a bit more presence. If you're budget-conscious and want a classic Persol rectangular frame, the 3048S delivers excellent value. If you prefer a more substantial, modern look and don't mind spending a bit more, the 3268S is worth the investment.

Bottom line: The 3268S sits in the sweet spot—not too large, not too small, with contemporary styling that balances Persol's heritage with modern aesthetics. It's the frame to choose if you want a versatile rectangular shape that works across different settings and face shapes.
