In reviewing….

I placed an order as the item was a good price. The order took a little longer than expected but I received what I ordered. The 4 stars vs 5 stars was because I had to reach out to find out the status, only to find my order was not in stock and they needed to place an order with the manufacturer. Nonetheless, I would purchase from here again.

Fast and smooth

I was hesitant to order from here because there were several reviews about orders taking forever to get delivered. This was NOT the case with me. Received my order in less than a week with the regular no extra shipping method. I'm happy and wouldn't hesitate to order again in the future

Excellent item. Excellent service.

I purchased a duplicate frame to have as a backup for one I have been enjoying for many months. It's very light and comfortable. I tend to wear a given pair of glasses for many years, replacing the lenses as needed. But, eventually, a frame will wear out or a damaged part cannot be replaced because they are no longer available. So this purchase is insurance against that development.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ray-Ban 8901 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Ray-Ban 8901 frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single vision, progressive (no-line bifocal), and traditional bifocal lenses. The rectangular lens shape with 53mm or 55mm width provides ample vertical height for progressive lenses, making them an excellent choice for multifocal prescriptions. Your optician can install your custom prescription lenses directly into these frames.

What makes the Ray-Ban 8901 frames so lightweight?

The RB8901 features carbon fiber construction combined with acetate, creating an exceptionally lightweight frame. Customer reviews consistently note that these are among the lightest frames available—light enough to pair with glass prescription lenses while still feeling nearly weightless. This makes them ideal for all-day comfort without pressure on the nose or ears.

Do these eyeglasses have adjustable nose pads?

Yes, the Ray-Ban 8901 includes adjustable silicone nose pads that can be fine-tuned for optimal fit and comfort. Adjustable nose pads allow you to customize the height and angle of the frames, ensure proper lens alignment with your eyes, prevent slipping during activity, and distribute weight evenly across the nose bridge—especially beneficial for heavier prescription lenses.

What face shapes work best with the Ray-Ban 8901?

The rectangular shape of the RB8901 is particularly flattering on round and oval face shapes, as the angular lines provide contrast and definition. The clean, structured rectangle silhouette with sharp angles delivers a modern, professional look. Available in two sizes (53mm and 55mm lens width), you can choose the proportion that best suits your facial dimensions.

What are the frame measurements for the Ray-Ban 8901?

The Ray-Ban 8901 is available in two sizes: 53-17-145 (53mm lens width, 17mm bridge, 145mm temple length) and 55-17-145. The lens vertical height is approximately 32-33mm, and the overall frame width is approximately 137-140mm. These medium-sized proportions provide a balanced fit for most adult faces.

What colors are available for the Ray-Ban 8901?

The Ray-Ban 8901 is currently available in seven color options, including matte grey (5244), semi-gloss black (5263), demigloss blue (5262), and additional colorways. Each features the distinctive exposed carbon fiber pattern on the temples, creating a modern tech-inspired aesthetic. The variety allows you to choose a look that matches your personal style—from subtle professional grey to bold statement black.

Ray-Ban 8901 vs. Similar Prescription Eyeglasses

Choosing the right prescription eyeglasses means finding the perfect balance of style, comfort, and functionality. The Ray-Ban 8901 stands out in Ray-Ban's collection for its modern carbon fiber construction and exceptionally lightweight feel, but how does it compare to similar models?

Ray-Ban 8901 vs. Ray-Ban 8906

Both the 8901 and Ray-Ban 8906 belong to Ray-Ban's Tech collection and feature carbon fiber construction for ultra-lightweight comfort. The key difference lies in frame shape: the 8901 offers a rectangle silhouette that flatters round and oval faces, while the 8906 features a square shape with spring flex hinges. The 8906 also comes in a slightly larger 54mm lens width. If you prefer angular, modern styling with maximum flexibility, the 8906 is worth considering. However, the 8901's rectangle shape is more universally flattering and available in more color options, including the popular matte grey and demigloss blue with exposed carbon fiber temples.

Ray-Ban 8901 vs. Ray-Ban 7017

The Ray-Ban 7017 offers a more traditional acetate frame at a lower price point ($109-$222 vs. $143-$276). While both feature rectangle shapes suitable for prescription lenses, the 7017 lacks the carbon fiber construction that makes the 8901 so remarkably lightweight. If budget is your primary concern and you don't mind a slightly heavier frame, the 7017 delivers classic Ray-Ban quality. But for all-day comfort and modern tech aesthetics, the 8901's carbon fiber design is worth the investment—especially if you plan to add heavier glass prescription lenses.

Ray-Ban 8901 vs. Ray-Ban Clubmaster 5154

This comparison comes down to style preference: modern versus vintage. The Clubmaster 5154 features Ray-Ban's iconic browline design—a retro look that's been popular since the 1950s. At a similar price point ($132-$280), the Clubmaster offers timeless appeal and adjustable nose pads, but its acetate and metal construction is heavier than the 8901. Choose the Clubmaster if you love vintage-inspired eyewear and want a statement piece with heritage appeal. Choose the 8901 if you prefer sleek, contemporary styling with cutting-edge lightweight materials.

Why Choose the Ray-Ban 8901? The RB8901 is the ideal choice for customers who prioritize comfort, modern design, and versatility. Its carbon fiber construction makes it one of the lightest prescription frames available, while adjustable silicone nose pads ensure a secure, customized fit. The clean rectangle shape works for both professional and casual settings, and the exposed carbon fiber temple details add a distinctive tech-forward edge. Whether you need single vision, progressive, or bifocal lenses, the 8901 delivers exceptional all-day wearability without compromising on style.
