DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Ray-Ban RX 8908 eyeglasses bring modern engineering to a classic rectangular silhouette. These prescription-ready frames combine an acetate front with sleek metal temples featuring a distinctive carbon fiber texture that sets them apart from standard plastic frames.

Mixed-Material Construction for Durability and Comfort

The RX 8908 uses a two-material design that balances style and function. The acetate front provides the rich color depth and durability Ray-Ban is known for, while the lightweight metal temples keep the overall weight down. The temples feature a textured carbon fiber finish and two metal plates engraved with the Ray-Ban logo, adding visual interest without bulk.

What makes these frames stand out is the attention to all-day comfort. Rubber temple pads at the ends of the arms prevent slipping and reduce pressure points behind your ears. The 18mm bridge and full-rim construction provide a secure, stable fit that works well with higher prescriptions, including progressive and bifocal lenses.

Versatile Rectangle Shape for Any Face Type

The RX 8908 features a geometric rectangular shape with softly rounded corners, creating a clean, contemporary look that works for both men and women. It's not overly bold or minimalist—just a well-proportioned everyday frame that pairs equally well with business attire or casual wear. Available in three lens widths (53mm, 55mm, and 57mm), you can find the right fit whether you have a smaller or larger face.

Color options range from solid black and matte black to transparent blue, grey, and brown, many with contrasting patterned temple interiors that add a subtle design detail visible only when you take them off. These frames are fully prescription-ready and ship with demo lenses that can be replaced with your single-vision, progressive, or reading prescription.

Poor design

Had to return the frame as there is a major flaw in the design for people with longer hair. The pad on the inner side of the temple arms is not fully glued on. As a result, every time the frame is removed hair gets caught under the pad and pulled out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Ray-Ban 8908 eyeglasses suitable for progressive lenses?

Yes, the Ray-Ban RX 8908 frames are fully compatible with progressive and bifocal lenses. The full-rim rectangular design provides enough vertical lens height to accommodate the multiple vision zones in progressive lenses, and the stable acetate front ensures proper lens positioning for optimal vision correction.

What materials are the Ray-Ban 8908 frames made from?

The RX 8908 features a mixed-material construction with an acetate front and metal temples. The temples have a distinctive carbon fiber texture finish and include rubber temple pads for added comfort. This combination provides durability while keeping the frames lightweight for all-day wear.

What size options are available for the Ray-Ban RX 8908?

The Ray-Ban 8908 comes in three sizes: 53-18-145mm, 55-18-145mm, and 57-18-150mm. The first number is the lens width, the second is the bridge width (18mm across all sizes), and the third is the temple length. Most people find the 53mm works for smaller to medium faces, while 55mm and 57mm suit medium to larger faces.

Can I add prescription lenses to Ray-Ban 8908 frames?

Absolutely. The Ray-Ban RX 8908 is designed specifically as a prescription eyeglass frame. You can add single-vision lenses for nearsightedness or farsightedness, progressive lenses for multifocal correction, or reading lenses. You can also choose lens upgrades like anti-reflective coating, blue light filtering, or Transitions photochromic lenses.

Are Ray-Ban 8908 eyeglasses unisex or gender-specific?

The RX 8908 is a unisex frame designed to suit both men and women. The rectangular shape with softly rounded corners and clean lines provides a versatile, modern look that works across different face shapes and personal styles. The multiple size options ensure a proper fit regardless of gender.

Do Ray-Ban 8908 frames come with a warranty?

Yes, authentic Ray-Ban RX 8908 eyeglasses come with a one-year manufacturer's warranty that covers defects in materials and workmanship. The frames are manufactured by Luxottica and include a genuine Ray-Ban case and cleaning cloth. Keep your proof of purchase to ensure warranty coverage.

Ray-Ban RX 8908 vs. Clubmaster 5154 vs. Other Ray-Ban Eyeglasses

Choosing between Ray-Ban prescription eyeglasses often comes down to style preference and how much modern detailing you want. The RX 8908 sits in the contemporary end of Ray-Ban's eyeglass lineup, while alternatives like the Clubmaster 5154 offer more vintage appeal.

RX 8908 vs. Clubmaster 5154: Modern Rectangle vs. Retro Browline

The Clubmaster 5154 is Ray-Ban's most iconic eyeglass frame, featuring the distinctive browline design that's been popular since the 1950s. If you want instant recognition and retro style, the Clubmaster delivers. However, the RX 8908 offers a more versatile, contemporary rectangular shape that works across more face types and style preferences. The RX 8908's carbon fiber temples and mixed-material construction also provide a more modern, technical aesthetic compared to the Clubmaster's traditional acetate-and-metal combination. Both frames are in the same price range ($249-$280), so your choice comes down to whether you prefer classic browline style or clean rectangular lines.

RX 8908 vs. RX 8412: Same Collection, Different Shapes

The RX 8412 shares the RX 8908's carbon fiber temple design and mixed-material construction, making them siblings in Ray-Ban's modern eyewear collection. If you like the technical detailing and build quality of the RX 8908 but want to explore other frame shapes, the RX 8412 is worth considering. Both offer the same comfort features, including rubber temple pads and lightweight metal temples, at similar price points.

RX 8908 vs. RX 5206: Premium Details vs. Budget-Friendly

The RX 5206 offers a similar rectangular shape at a significantly lower price (starting at $114.88). It's a solid choice if you want the Ray-Ban name and a classic rectangle but don't need the carbon fiber detailing or mixed-material construction. The RX 5206 uses full acetate construction, which is lighter and easier for opticians to adjust, but lacks the distinctive temple design and premium feel of the RX 8908. If budget is your primary concern, the RX 5206 delivers good value. If you want something that stands out with modern detailing, the RX 8908 is worth the extra investment.

Our take: The Ray-Ban RX 8908 is the best choice for customers who want a modern, versatile rectangular frame with premium detailing. The carbon fiber temples and mixed-material construction set it apart from standard acetate frames, while the clean lines and multiple size options ensure a good fit across different face shapes. It's a contemporary everyday frame that works for both professional and casual settings.
