DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Columbia C8038 eyeglasses bring outdoor-inspired durability to everyday prescription eyewear. Built with full-rim acetate construction, these men's rectangle frames balance a clean, linear profile with the flexibility and comfort you need for all-day wear.

Acetate isn't just another plastic. This plant-based material is lightweight, hypoallergenic, and significantly more durable than injection-molded frames. The C8038's acetate front and temples resist daily wear while staying comfortable on your nose and ears, even during long hours at work or weekend adventures. The 60mm lens width and 19mm bridge offer a medium fit that works well for most face sizes, and the universal bridge design accommodates different nose shapes without pressure points.

The rectangle shape adds structure and definition, making these frames particularly flattering for round or oval faces. Available in versatile colors including grey crystal and black, the C8038 keeps things understated with subtle Columbia branding on the temples. The straight temple design wraps securely over your ears for a stable fit whether you're on a trail or in a meeting.

These frames are prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, and most specialty lens options. Columbia eyewear reflects the brand's outdoor heritage: functional, durable, and priced for real-world use. The C8038 is a solid choice if you want reliable everyday frames that won't quit.

A very unsatisfied customer

Your website states orders shipped in 5 days, my took over 2 weeks and then you shipped USPS, which took 5 days. And when I received my new glasses they make my vision much worse and I can’t wear them. I believe you got my prescription wrong and the lenses are off. Bad return policy, will reimburse 80% of the frame costs, not good…

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Columbia C8038 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Columbia C8038 frames are fully prescription-ready and can accommodate most prescription lenses including single-vision, progressive, bifocal, and specialty lenses like blue light blocking or photochromic options. The full-rim acetate construction provides maximum stability for holding prescription lenses securely.

What size are the Columbia C8038 frames?

The Columbia C8038 measures 60mm lens width, 19mm bridge width, and 150mm temple length (60-19-150). This is considered a medium to large fit suitable for most adult men. The universal bridge design helps the frames fit comfortably on different nose shapes.

What face shape works best with rectangle eyeglasses like the C8038?

Rectangle frames like the Columbia C8038 are ideal for round and oval face shapes because the angular lines add definition and balance to softer facial features. The straight, linear frame shape helps create visual contrast and can make round faces appear slightly longer and more structured.

What are the benefits of acetate frames?

Acetate frames offer several advantages over conventional plastic: they're more durable and flexible, making them resistant to breakage from daily wear. Acetate is also hypoallergenic, lightweight for all-day comfort, and retains color better since the dye is embedded in the material layers rather than painted on the surface.

Are Columbia eyeglasses good quality?

Columbia eyeglasses are manufactured by Marchon and designed to offer functional performance at accessible price points. The brand emphasizes durability and outdoor-inspired design. Customer reviews note that the frames are lightweight, comfortable, and stylish, with acetate models providing good long-term durability for everyday use.

What warranty comes with Columbia C8038 eyeglasses?

Columbia eyeglasses typically come with a manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty period varies by retailer but commonly ranges from one to two years. The warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover damage from normal wear, accidents, or improper care.

Columbia C8038 vs. Similar Columbia Eyeglass Frames

If you're considering the Columbia C8038, you might also be looking at other frames in Columbia's men's eyewear collection. Here's how the C8038 compares to similar options in our catalog.

C8038 vs. Columbia C8010

Both the C8038 and C8010 feature durable acetate construction with rectangle shapes designed for active lifestyles. The C8010 offers a slightly wider price range ($92.74–$156.70 vs. $107.69 for the C8038), which may reflect different lens options or color availability. If you're deciding between these two, the choice comes down to specific measurements and which frame dimensions fit your face better. Both deliver the same Columbia quality and outdoor-inspired design philosophy.

C8038 vs. Columbia C8000

The C8000 is another acetate rectangle frame in Columbia's lineup, priced competitively at $96.62–$116.75. Like the C8038, it's built for durability and all-day comfort. The main differences will be in the specific frame measurements and subtle design details. If the C8038's 60-19-150 sizing doesn't quite fit, the C8000 might offer the alternative dimensions you need while keeping the same material benefits and brand reliability.

C8038 vs. Columbia C3016

The C3016 offers a different material option with metal construction, priced similarly at $107.69–$120.75. While the C8038's acetate provides flexibility, hypoallergenic properties, and a sportier aesthetic, the C3016's metal frame delivers a more traditional, professional look. Metal frames are typically thinner and may feel lighter, but they don't offer the same impact resistance as acetate. Choose the C8038 if you prefer the durability and modern style of acetate; consider the C3016 if you want a classic metal frame aesthetic.

Our recommendation: The Columbia C8038 stands out for its acetate construction, which offers superior durability and flexibility compared to metal alternatives. The rectangle shape is versatile and flattering for most face shapes, and the medium sizing (60-19-150) fits a wide range of wearers. At $107.69, it's competitively priced within the Columbia collection and delivers excellent value for a prescription-ready acetate frame.
