DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses bring bold, feminine style to a classic rectangle silhouette. These full-rim acetate frames measure 56mm across the lens, offering generous coverage and a confident, oversized look that's become a signature of the collection. The Ayleen is designed for women who want sunglasses that make a statement without sacrificing everyday wearability.

Lightweight Acetate Construction

The frames are built from durable acetate plastic that stays lightweight even through long days. The material is hypoallergenic and resistant to wear, making these sunglasses a reliable choice for daily use. Wire-core temples run through the arms, widening slightly at the tips for a secure, stable fit behind the ears. The signature metallic spade icon sits at the temple hinge—a subtle designer detail that identifies authentic Kate Spade eyewear.

Prescription-Ready & Polarized Options

The Ayleen is fully prescription-ready, accepting single-vision, progressive, and even photochromic lenses. Several colors feature polarized lenses that cut glare and enhance visual clarity, particularly useful for driving or time near water. Gradient lens options provide darker coverage at the top while allowing more light through the bottom half of the lens. The 56-17-135 sizing (lens width, bridge, temple length) accommodates a range of prescriptions, and the full-rim design provides excellent lens security.

Playful Color Options

The Ayleen is available in multiple color combinations. Options include classic tortoiseshell patterns, neutral beige tones, and frames with contrasting inner temple details. Lens colors range from brown gradient to gray gradient, with polarized options available in select finishes. Each option reflects Kate Spade's approach to color—sophisticated enough for any setting, but with an unexpected pop of personality.

Kate Spade eyewear is manufactured in Italy under license by Safilo Group, ensuring quality construction and authentic materials. Each pair ships with a branded case and cleaning cloth. The 56mm lens width and wire-core temple construction make the Ayleen comfortable for extended wear throughout the day.

Great Sunglasses; Better Service!

I ordered these sunglasses after a couple of failed attempts at getting them from a giant online seller who kept sending me the wrong item. Finally, I gave up and turned to Designer Optics. The sunglasses were on back order and it took some time for them to ship out because of this, but the customer service team not only checked in to make sure I wanted to continue with my order, but were more than willing to check into the status when I later enquired. Once they shipped, they took no time at all to arrive and they were exactly as I ordered. They're beautiful and I am so happy to have purchased them from Designer Optics!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses are fully prescription-ready. The full-rim acetate frame can accommodate single-vision, bifocal, and progressive prescription lenses. The 56mm lens width and rectangle shape provide enough vertical height for progressive corridors, making them a practical choice for prescription sunglasses.

What size are Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses?

The Kate Spade Ayleen measures 56mm lens width, 17mm bridge width, and 135mm temple length (56-17-135). This is considered a medium to large fit. Customers note these frames run on the larger side and provide generous coverage, making them ideal for those who prefer oversized sunglasses or have average to wider faces.

Do Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses come with polarized lenses?

Several Kate Spade Ayleen color variants feature polarized lenses, including the Black Havana with brown gradient polarized lenses and the Beige Striped White with brown polarized lenses. Polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water, snow, and pavement, providing clearer vision and reduced eye strain. Check the specific color variant details to confirm polarization.

What material are Kate Spade Ayleen frames made from?

The Kate Spade Ayleen frames are made from acetate, a lightweight and durable plastic material. The frames feature wire-core temples that run through the arms for added strength and flexibility. The acetate is hypoallergenic and comfortable for all-day wear, while the wire cores allow the temples to be adjusted for a customized fit.

Are Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses good for small faces?

The Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses have a 56mm lens width, which is considered medium to large. Customer reviews indicate these frames run on the larger side and may overwhelm smaller faces. If you have a petite face, consider trying Kate Spade models with smaller lens widths (52-54mm) for a better proportional fit.

Do Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses provide UV protection?

Yes, Kate Spade Ayleen sunglasses provide 100% UV protection, blocking both UVA and UVB rays. This protects your eyes from harmful sun exposure that can contribute to cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye conditions. The polarized variants offer additional glare reduction while maintaining full UV protection.

Kate Spade Ayleen vs. Annika vs. Judyann: Which Rectangle Sunglasses Are Right for You?

If you're drawn to Kate Spade's playful take on rectangle sunglasses, you've likely come across the Ayleen, Annika, and Judyann models. All three offer the brand's signature blend of feminine style and quality construction, but each has distinct characteristics that make it better suited for different preferences and budgets.

The Ayleen: Bold, Oversized Statement

The Kate Spade Ayleen ($87.23–$126.00) is the choice for those who want a confident, oversized look. With its 56mm lens width and generous coverage, the Ayleen makes a statement. The acetate frames feature eye-catching color combinations—like the Black Havana with its tortoiseshell exterior and vibrant pink interior, or the Havana Green with patterned temples. Multiple variants come with polarized lenses, and the wire-core temples provide durability and adjustability. If you love bold sunglasses that command attention and don't mind a larger fit, the Ayleen delivers.

The Annika: Budget-Friendly Alternative

The Kate Spade Annika ($59.50–$109.85) offers a similar rectangle aesthetic at a more accessible price point. While we don't have the exact sizing details here, the Annika is a solid choice if you're looking to save $20-30 while still getting authentic Kate Spade style and prescription-ready frames. It's ideal for first-time Kate Spade buyers or those building a sunglasses collection on a budget.

The Judyann: Mid-Range Option

The Kate Spade Judyann ($93.63–$105.54) sits in the middle of the price range and offers another take on the rectangle shape. Like the Ayleen, it's prescription-ready and features Kate Spade's attention to detail and quality construction. The Judyann may appeal to those who want something between the Ayleen's bold presence and the Annika's value positioning.

Our Recommendation

Choose the Ayleen if you want the most distinctive style, polarized lens options, and don't mind a larger fit. The color combinations are the most adventurous of the three, and the oversized rectangle shape is very on-trend. Choose the Annika if budget is your primary concern and you want to maximize savings while still getting Kate Spade quality. Choose the Judyann if you want a middle-ground option that balances price and features. All three are prescription-ready and ship with authentic Kate Spade cases and cleaning cloths.
