DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Kate Spade HAZEN eyeglasses bring together classic rectangle styling and the brand's signature playful details in a frame that works for everyday wear. The full-rim acetate construction features a tortoiseshell or solid front paired with contrasting inner temples—a two-tone design that adds visual interest without overwhelming your look. A subtle striped detail at the temple hinge is pure Kate Spade: refined but never boring.

Available in two lens widths (49mm and 51mm), the HAZEN is particularly popular among women with petite to average face sizes. The 49mm option fits smaller faces comfortably, while the 51mm provides a bit more coverage. Both sizes share a 16mm bridge and 140mm temples, creating balanced proportions that sit well on most face shapes. Rectangle frames like these are especially flattering on round or oval faces, adding definition and structure.

Premium Acetate Construction

Kate Spade manufactures the HAZEN from high-quality cellulose acetate, a plant-based material that's hypoallergenic and lightweight. Unlike cheaper injection-molded plastic, acetate frames are cut from layered sheets, which allows for richer color saturation and better durability. The result is a frame that holds its shape, resists warping, and maintains its finish through daily wear. The full-rim design provides maximum lens stability and can accommodate stronger prescriptions without compromising structural integrity.

The HAZEN comes in four distinct colorways: classic Havana tortoiseshell, versatile Black, soft Lilac, and Pink Havana. Each features the brand's attention to color depth—the tortoiseshell patterns show genuine variation and warmth, not the flat uniformity of lower-quality frames. The contrasting temple interiors (often in pale blue or cream, depending on the colorway) are a thoughtful touch that only the wearer sees, but it speaks to the brand's design philosophy.

Prescription-Ready for Your Vision Needs

These frames are fully compatible with prescription lenses, including single vision, bifocal, and progressive options. The rectangle shape offers good vertical lens height, making it suitable for progressive wearers who need adequate space for the reading zone. You can also customize with blue light filtering, anti-reflective coatings, Transitions lenses, or high-index materials for stronger prescriptions. The 16mm bridge and integrated nose pads ensure a secure, comfortable fit that won't slip during wear.

Manufactured by Safilo USA under license, Kate Spade eyewear carries a one-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Each frame ships with an authentic Kate Spade case and cleaning cloth.

Waste of $

The glasses are extremely small- a child could wear them. Even though they are only magnified lenses they claim I can’t return them !! What a waste of $130!!! Never again

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Kate Spade HAZEN eyeglasses suitable for prescription lenses?

Yes, the HAZEN frames are fully prescription-ready and can accommodate single vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The rectangle shape provides good vertical lens height, making them particularly suitable for progressive prescriptions. You can also add blue light filtering, anti-reflective coatings, Transitions lenses, or high-index materials for stronger prescriptions.

What size should I choose for the Kate Spade HAZEN?

The HAZEN is available in two lens widths: 49mm and 51mm, both with a 16mm bridge and 140mm temples. The 49mm size is ideal for petite to small faces, while the 51mm suits average face sizes. If you have an existing pair of glasses that fits well, check the measurements printed on the inside of the temple arm to compare.

What material are Kate Spade HAZEN frames made from?

The HAZEN frames are made from premium cellulose acetate, a plant-based, hypoallergenic material. Kate Spade uses acetate cut from layered sheets rather than injection-molded plastic, which results in richer color depth, better durability, and superior resistance to warping. This construction method is a hallmark of quality eyewear.

Do Kate Spade HAZEN eyeglasses work for round or oval face shapes?

Yes, rectangle frames like the HAZEN are particularly flattering on round and oval face shapes because they add definition and angular contrast. The horizontal lines help balance rounded features, while the moderate width prevents the frame from overwhelming your face. The two size options ensure you can find the right proportions for your specific face size.

Are Kate Spade eyeglasses durable for everyday wear?

Yes, Kate Spade frames are built for daily use. The HAZEN's acetate construction is known for durability and vibrancy of color, and the full-rim design provides maximum stability for the lenses. Acetate is lightweight yet sturdy, and it holds its shape well over time. The frames come with a one-year manufacturer's warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship.

What comes with the Kate Spade HAZEN eyeglasses?

Each pair of HAZEN eyeglasses comes with authentic Kate Spade accessories, including a branded protective case and a microfiber cleaning cloth. The frames are manufactured by Safilo USA and include a certificate of authenticity. All frames are brand new, never displayed, and backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty.

Kate Spade HAZEN vs. Similar Rectangle Frames

If you're considering the Kate Spade HAZEN, you might also be looking at other rectangle acetate frames in the collection. Here's how the HAZEN compares to three similar models in our catalog.

HAZEN vs. Atalina

Both the HAZEN and Atalina are classic rectangle frames made from premium acetate, but they differ in their details. The HAZEN is particularly known for its two-size availability (49mm and 51mm), making it a go-to choice for petite faces. The striped temple detail is subtle but distinctive. The Atalina may offer different color combinations and temple styling, so if you're drawn to the Kate Spade aesthetic but want to explore variations, it's worth comparing both. Price-wise, they're in the same range, with the Atalina running $55-$141.57 versus the HAZEN's $58-$106.57.

HAZEN vs. Laurianne

The Laurianne is another popular rectangle option that shares the HAZEN's quality acetate construction and prescription compatibility. The key difference often comes down to temple design and overall proportions. If you're looking for a frame with good vertical lens height for progressive lenses, both models deliver, but the specific measurements may favor one over the other depending on your face size. The Laurianne's price range ($58-$161.75) extends slightly higher, which may reflect additional color options or design complexity.

HAZEN vs. Brylie

The Brylie offers a similar rectangle silhouette and price point ($50-$137.28), making it a close competitor to the HAZEN. The choice between them often comes down to fit and personal preference in temple styling. If you've read reviews praising the HAZEN's fit for smaller faces, that's a key differentiator—the 49mm option is specifically appreciated by customers with petite features. The Brylie may have different frame measurements, so checking the specific dimensions against your current glasses is important.

Why Choose the HAZEN?

The HAZEN stands out for its two-size flexibility, making it accessible to a wider range of face sizes. Customer reviews specifically mention the smaller 49mm option as a great fit for petite faces—something not always easy to find in designer frames. The striped temple detail adds Kate Spade's signature playfulness without being over-the-top, and the contrasting inner temples are a nice touch. If you want a versatile rectangle frame that works for both professional and casual settings, with proven fit for smaller faces, the HAZEN is an excellent choice.
