DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The KNEX 010 Eyeglasses bring the same durability and creativity that K'NEX is known for in educational toys to prescription eyewear designed specifically for active kids. These square full-rim frames are built to handle the rough-and-tumble reality of childhood—from playground tumbles to backpack stuffing—without breaking or losing their shape.

Built Tough for Active Kids

The front of each frame is constructed from TR90 material, a flexible nylon-based thermoplastic that's featherlight yet incredibly impact-resistant. The hinges and temples use TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), which adds extra flexibility where kids need it most. This combination means the KNEX 010 can bend, twist, and flex without cracking—a real advantage when your child is learning to handle glasses carefully. Both materials are BPA-free, latex-free, and hypoallergenic, so they're safe for sensitive skin and all-day wear.

The anatomically correct bridge is designed to fit kids' faces properly without traditional nose pads, which eliminates pinching and the small parts that can break or get lost. Available in three vibrant color combinations—Black/Red/Grey, Purple/Pink/Purple, and Light Blue/Beige/Light Blue—the KNEX 010 lets kids express their personal style while parents get the peace of mind that comes with a frame that can keep up.

Prescription-Ready and Practical

These frames are fully prescription-ready and work with impact-resistant polycarbonate or Trivex lenses, which eye care professionals recommend for children. The full-rim construction provides extra lens protection, and the unisex square shape suits a wide range of face shapes. Whether your child needs glasses for distance, reading, or full-time wear, the KNEX 010 delivers the comfort and durability that make kids more likely to actually keep them on.

The glasses are a great quality however they are much smaller than stated. They claimed to be a size 50, but are much smaller. The company refused to do anything to help us, no exchange, no offer to get us a larger pair, no refund, they claimed it’s because they are custom order. However their website states “easy returns”.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are KNEX 010 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the KNEX 010 frames are fully prescription-ready and can be fitted with your child's prescription lenses. They work with all standard lens types including impact-resistant polycarbonate and Trivex lenses, which are recommended for children. Our licensed opticians will ensure the lenses are properly fitted to the frame.

What makes KNEX frames durable for active kids?

KNEX frames feature TR90 material on the front and TPE on the hinges and temples, making them extremely flexible and impact-resistant. These materials allow the frames to bend and twist without breaking, which is essential for kids who are rough on their glasses. Both materials are also BPA-free, latex-free, and hypoallergenic.

What age range are KNEX 010 eyeglasses designed for?

The KNEX 010 eyeglasses are designed for children and feature a unisex square shape that fits a variety of face sizes. The lightweight, flexible construction and anatomically correct bridge make them particularly suitable for school-age kids who need durable, comfortable frames for all-day wear.

Do these frames come with nose pads?

No, the KNEX 010 features an anatomically correct bridge designed to fit children's faces without traditional nose pads. This design eliminates the need for adjustable nose pads, reducing the risk of breakage and lost parts while providing a comfortable, secure fit.

What lens materials work best with KNEX frames for kids?

Impact-resistant lens materials like polycarbonate or Trivex are strongly recommended for all children's eyeglasses. These materials are lightweight, shatter-resistant, and provide excellent protection during sports and active play. You can add scratch-resistant coatings and anti-reflective treatments for additional durability and visual clarity.

How do I clean and care for KNEX eyeglasses?

Clean KNEX frames with lukewarm water and mild soap, then dry with a soft microfiber cloth. The TR90 and TPE materials are water-resistant and durable, but avoid exposing them to extreme heat. Store the glasses in a protective case when not in use to prevent scratches and extend their lifespan.

KNEX 010 vs Other KNEX Kids' Frames

If you're considering the KNEX 010, you might also want to explore other models in the KNEX collection. All KNEX frames share the same durable TR90/TPE construction, BPA-free materials, and anatomically correct bridge design—the main differences come down to frame shape and color options.

KNEX 010 vs KNEX 011 (Cat-Eye)

The KNEX 011 offers the same flexible, impact-resistant construction as the 010 but in a cat-eye shape. This gives kids a more playful, distinctive look that stands out. Both frames are priced identically at $38.43 and feature the same safety materials. The choice comes down to style preference: the 010's square shape is more universal and suits most face shapes, while the 011's cat-eye design appeals to kids who want something a bit more unique. Keep in mind that cat-eye frames can sometimes be perceived as more feminine, though they're technically unisex.

KNEX 010 vs KNEX 019 (Round)

The KNEX 019 brings a round frame shape to the same trusted construction. Round frames offer a softer, more classic look compared to the 010's angular square shape. The 019 starts at $44.98, slightly higher than the 010, but delivers the same TR90/TPE flexibility and hypoallergenic materials. Round frames work particularly well for kids with angular or square face shapes, providing visual balance. However, they offer less coverage than square frames, which some parents prefer for better lens protection.

Which KNEX Frame Should You Choose?

The KNEX 010 is the best all-around choice for most kids. Its square shape is universally flattering, provides good lens coverage, and works well for both boys and girls. The vibrant color combinations let kids express their personality while parents get a durable, affordable frame that can handle daily wear. If your child has a strong style preference for cat-eye or round frames, the 011 or 019 are excellent alternatives with the same quality construction.
