DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Liz Claiborne L446 Eyeglasses bring a modern take on the cat-eye silhouette that's been a women's fashion staple since the 1950s. Built from lightweight stainless steel, these full-rim prescription frames balance durability with all-day comfort—a practical choice for anyone who wears their glasses from morning meetings to evening errands.

Stainless Steel Construction That Lasts

Stainless steel frames offer corrosion resistance and strength without the premium price of titanium. The metal construction keeps the L446 light on your face while providing the adjustability you need for a custom fit. The full-rim design secures your lenses completely, making these frames compatible with single-vision, progressive, and bifocal prescriptions. The single-bridge design sits comfortably across the nose, and the temples feature a subtle curve for stability behind the ears.

Cat-Eye Shape for Modern Women

The L446's cat-eye shape features a gentle upswept outer corner that adds definition without going overboard. This frame shape works particularly well for round and oval face shapes, where the angular lines create balance and draw attention to the eyes and cheekbones. Available in four versatile colors—Semi Matte Navy, Brown, Matte Black, and Plum—and two sizes (47mm and 49mm lens width), the L446 accommodates a range of face sizes, including those who struggle to find petite frames that actually fit.

Liz Claiborne eyewear is manufactured by Safilo Group in Italy, a company that's been producing quality eyewear since 1934. These frames are prescription-ready and ship with a protective case. Whether you need them for daily wear or as a stylish backup pair, the L446 delivers accessible designer eyewear that doesn't compromise on quality or fit.

Pleased!

Not all opticians carry a wide selection of petite frames. That said, I'm very pleased with the Liz Claiborne petite frames I ordered from your company. The customer service you provided was very helpful. I picked up my frames with my new Rx today, and I'm delighted.. I would order again. and would recommend to my friends. Thx!

Great for petite and sensitive face

I am so happy with these Liz Claiborne frames!!! After trying on glasses at eight stores and looking online, I was starting to think I would never find glasses to fit my small face. I tried these on at my optometrist's office, but bought them here at designer optics (and got lenses put in at Sam's club). I got the smaller size (47/130). I like that these frames are like a combo of rectangle and cat eye. My face is small and my eyes are close set (my pupillary distance is 56), but as a 40 yr old woman, I don't really want to wear kids styles. These frames are very comfortable, which is saying something because I am extremely sensitive and most glasses or sunglasses give me headaches just from the pressure of wearing them. My kids, friends, and the lady at optometrist's talked me into the blue to bring out my blue eyes (I tend to be more conservative and was leaning toward the brown). I'm happy with the blue :). They look metallic but not shiny, classy not cheap.

Something to note: the arms are plastic. The fronts are metal but about an inch from the hinge, they switch to plastic. Since that made them a little less adjustable (for my sensitive head), I ended up getting some little silicon accessories on Amazon to help them fit better without sliding off or having to be adjusted too tight.
They came with a really nice Liz Claiborne hard case with magnetic closure.
I ordered then on a Friday and they arrived the following Friday (shipping from NY to SC).

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Liz Claiborne L446 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the L446 frames are fully prescription-ready and can accommodate single-vision, progressive, and bifocal lenses. The full-rim metal construction provides maximum stability for your prescription lenses, and the frames can be adjusted by an optician for optimal lens alignment and comfort.

What face shapes look best with cat-eye glasses like the L446?

Cat-eye frames are ideal for round faces, where the angular edges add definition and create the illusion of length. They also work beautifully on oval faces, which can pull off most frame styles. The upswept corners draw attention upward, highlighting your eyes and cheekbones while adding a lifted, elegant appearance.

What are the benefits of stainless steel eyeglass frames?

Stainless steel frames are lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and durable—offering many of the same benefits as titanium at a more affordable price. They're strong enough to withstand daily wear, adjustable for a custom fit, and resistant to heat and abrasion. The material is also a good option for those with certain metal sensitivities when nickel-free options are available.

What sizes are available for the Liz Claiborne L446?

The L446 is available in two sizes: 47-17-130 and 49-17-135. The first number is the lens width in millimeters, the second is the bridge width, and the third is the temple length. The 47mm size works well for petite faces, while the 49mm offers a slightly larger fit. Both sizes feature a 17mm bridge.

Are Liz Claiborne eyeglasses good quality?

Yes, Liz Claiborne eyewear is manufactured by Safilo Group, an Italian company that's been producing quality eyeglasses since 1934. Customers consistently praise the frames for their durability, comfortable fit, and attractive design. The brand focuses on accessible designer eyewear that delivers both style and substance for modern women.

Do the L446 frames come with a case?

Yes, Liz Claiborne frames typically come with a branded protective case and cleaning cloth. This helps protect your investment and keeps your glasses safe when not in use. The case features a magnetic closure for secure storage.

Liz Claiborne L446 vs L442: Which Cat-Eye Frame Is Right for You?

If you're choosing between the Liz Claiborne L446 and L442, you're looking at two very similar cat-eye metal frames from the same collection. Both feature stainless steel construction, full-rim designs, and are available in four identical colors: Semi Matte Navy, Brown, Matte Black, and Plum. So what's the difference?

The L446 offers a 47mm or 49mm lens width with a 17mm bridge and 32mm lens height. It's priced at $80.16-$88.25, making it the more budget-friendly option. The slightly smaller lens height works well for single-vision and standard prescriptions, and customers particularly appreciate the petite-friendly sizing.

The L442 features a 48mm or 50mm lens width with a 16mm bridge and 33mm lens height, priced at $90.42. The extra millimeter of lens height can be beneficial if you're considering progressive lenses, which require more vertical space for the different viewing zones. The slightly narrower bridge (16mm vs 17mm) may fit better if you have a narrower nose.

Our recommendation: Choose the L446 if you want the best value and a slightly wider bridge fit, or if you're using single-vision lenses. Opt for the L442 if you need progressive lenses or prefer the slightly narrower bridge. Both are excellent quality frames—the decision comes down to these subtle fit differences and your prescription needs.

L446 vs Liz Claiborne 451: Cat-Eye or Different Style?

The Liz Claiborne 451 offers an alternative within the same brand and price range ($84.35-$88.25). While we don't have detailed specifications on the 451's exact shape, it represents a different aesthetic direction from the L446's cat-eye silhouette. If you're committed to the cat-eye look that flatters round and oval faces, the L446 is your frame. If you're open to exploring other shapes within the Liz Claiborne collection at a similar price point, the 451 is worth considering as an alternative.
