The MODERN PLASTICS I CHRIS Eyeglasses deliver classic square styling and prescription-ready versatility at an accessible price. These unisex frames feature full-rim acetate construction with a 20mm bridge and regular hinges, available in two sizes (50-20-140 and 52-20-145) to fit a range of face widths.
Acetate offers real advantages over standard injection-molded plastic. The material is hypoallergenic, more flexible, and more durable than conventional plastic frames. Color is integrated into the acetate layers rather than painted on, so it won't chip or fade with daily wear. The CHRIS is available in four finishes: classic Black, warm Blonde, neutral Grey, and rich Demi Amber.
The square shape adds structure and balance, particularly flattering on round or oval faces. The full-rim design securely holds prescription lenses of all types—single vision, progressive, blue light blocking, or readers. The 20mm bridge width and skull-style temples (which curve over the ears) provide a comfortable, stable fit for extended wear.
Each frame includes a matching case and cleaning cloth. Modern Plastics I eyewear is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty from Modern Optical, covering defects in materials and workmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these frames prescription-ready?
Yes, the MODERN PLASTICS I CHRIS frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with all lens types including single vision, progressive, bifocal, blue light blocking, and reading lenses. Our licensed opticians will custom-fit your prescription to these frames.
What's the difference between acetate and regular plastic frames?
Acetate frames are higher quality than standard plastic. They're more flexible and durable, less prone to breaking, hypoallergenic for sensitive skin, and feature richer colors that won't fade. The color is integrated into the material layers rather than painted on the surface.
What face shapes work best with square frames?
Square frames like the CHRIS are particularly flattering on round and oval face shapes, as the straight edges add definition and balance to softer facial features. The structured silhouette creates visual contrast that complements curved face contours.
How do I choose between the 50mm and 52mm size?
The first number is the lens width. Size 50 (50-20-140) suits narrower faces and has 140mm temples, while size 52 (52-20-145) fits average to wider faces with 145mm temples. Both share the same 20mm bridge width. A 2mm difference in lens width can noticeably affect comfort over a full day.
What's included with these frames?
Each pair includes the acetate frame, a matching protective case, and a microfiber cleaning cloth. The frames are backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty from Modern Optical covering defects in materials and workmanship.
Are these frames durable for everyday wear?
Yes, acetate frames are known for their durability and flexibility, making them well-suited for daily use. They're more resistant to pressure and can bend further before breaking compared to standard plastic frames, while remaining lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear.

MODERN PLASTICS I CHRIS vs. MODERN PLASTICS II REMOTE
Both the CHRIS and REMOTE models come from Modern Optical's affordable acetate eyewear collections, priced within a dollar of each other ($29.79 vs. $30.29). The key difference lies in frame shape and styling—the CHRIS features a classic square silhouette that adds structure to round or oval faces, while the REMOTE offers an alternative shape profile within the same quality tier.
Both frames share the same core benefits: full-rim acetate construction, prescription-ready compatibility with all lens types, regular hinges, and Modern Optical's one-year manufacturer's warranty. Each includes a matching case and cleaning cloth. The acetate material in both models provides hypoallergenic comfort, flexibility, and color durability superior to standard plastic frames.
Choose the CHRIS if you prefer the timeless square shape that flatters round and oval faces, or if you specifically want the Black, Blonde, Grey, or Demi Amber color options. Choose the REMOTE if its frame shape better suits your facial features or style preference. Either way, you're getting exceptional value in prescription-ready acetate eyewear under $31.
