The Polaroid Core PLD8020 Sunglasses deliver serious eye protection in a kid-friendly package built to handle real play. These rectangle-frame sunglasses feature a flexible rubber construction that bends without breaking—a must-have when you're dealing with active kids who drop, twist, and test their gear daily.
Polarized Lenses That Actually Work
Every pair comes with polarized lenses that cut glare from water, snow, and pavement—the kind of reflective surfaces kids encounter at the beach, pool, or playground. Polarization reduces eye strain and makes it easier for children to see clearly during outdoor activities. The lenses also provide full UV protection, blocking harmful UVA and UVB rays that can damage developing eyes.
Built for Kids Who Move
The lightweight rubber frame flexes and returns to shape, so these sunglasses survive backpack stuffing, accidental sits, and the general chaos of childhood. The 43mm lens width and 120mm temple length fit most children comfortably, with a single-bridge design that sits securely without pinching. Available in seven vibrant colors—from bright blue and pink to classic black—kids can pick a pair they'll actually want to wear.
Prescription-Ready When You Need It
These frames are prescription-ready (RXS), so children who need vision correction can get polarized sun protection and clear sight in one pair. The full-rim design supports prescription lenses well, making them a practical choice for families looking to consolidate eyewear.
Whether it's a day at the water park, a hike, or just playing outside, the Polaroid Core PLD8020 Sunglasses offer the durability, protection, and comfort parents need—and the style kids want.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are these sunglasses suitable for toddlers or older kids?
The Polaroid Core PLD8020 Sunglasses are designed for children and feature a 43mm lens width with 120mm temple length, making them best suited for kids approximately ages 3-10. The flexible rubber frame adjusts to different face shapes, but for the most accurate fit, measure your child's current glasses or check the size details against their face width.
Do these sunglasses have UV protection?
Yes, the Polaroid Core PLD8020 Sunglasses provide 100% UV protection, blocking both UVA and UVB rays. The polarized lenses also reduce glare from reflective surfaces like water, snow, and roads, which is especially helpful during beach trips, skiing, or outdoor sports.
Can I get prescription lenses in these frames?
Yes, these frames are prescription-ready (RXS). The full-rim rectangle design supports prescription lenses, allowing children who need vision correction to enjoy polarized sun protection. Contact Designer Optics to discuss your child's prescription requirements and lens options.
How durable are rubber frame sunglasses for kids?
Rubber frames are highly durable for children because they're flexible and bend without breaking. The Polaroid Core PLD8020 features a TPEE rubber construction that withstands drops, twisting, and rough handling—common with active kids. Parents report these frames hold up well to daily wear and are virtually unbreakable compared to rigid plastic frames.
What's the difference between polarized and regular kids' sunglasses?
Polarized lenses have a special filter that blocks horizontal glare reflected from surfaces like water, snow, and wet pavement, making them ideal for beach days, boating, and skiing. Regular UV-protective sunglasses reduce brightness but don't eliminate glare. For active kids who spend time near reflective surfaces, polarized lenses like those in the PLD8020 provide clearer, more comfortable vision.
Are these sunglasses available in different colors?
Yes, the Polaroid Core PLD8020 Sunglasses come in seven color options including Blue, Dark Pink, Black, Red, and multiple lens tint combinations with mirrored and polarized finishes. The variety of vibrant colors helps kids find a style they're excited to wear, which increases the likelihood they'll actually keep them on outdoors.

Polaroid Core PLD8020 vs. PLD8019: Rectangle or Round?
Both the PLD8020 and PLD8019 offer the same core benefits—polarized lenses, UV protection, and flexible rubber frames built for kids. The main difference is shape. The PLD8020's rectangle frame provides broader side coverage and a sportier look, while the PLD8019's round frame has a softer, retro vibe that some kids prefer. The PLD8019 also features a slightly smaller 45mm lens width, which may fit younger children better, and starts at a lower price point ($26 vs. $38). If your child needs maximum coverage for outdoor sports or water activities, the PLD8020 is the stronger choice. For everyday wear and a gentler aesthetic, consider the PLD8019.
PLD8020 vs. PLD8018: What's the Difference?
The Polaroid Core PLD8018 shares the rectangular wayfarer-inspired shape with the PLD8020, but the PLD8020 stands out for its flexible rubber construction that's specifically designed to withstand the rough handling kids dish out. Both models offer polarized lenses and UV protection at similar price points, but the PLD8020's seven color options give kids more choices—and when kids like how their sunglasses look, they're more likely to wear them consistently. If durability and color variety are priorities, the PLD8020 is the better pick.
