DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Sferoflex 2152 eyeglasses combine a classic square metal frame with the brand's flexible spring hinge system. Designed for men who need reliable prescription eyewear, these full-rim frames feature temples that adapt to different face shapes and widths.

Flexible Spring Hinge Technology

The defining feature of every Sferoflex frame is the flex temple mechanism. A specialized spring inside each hinge allows the temples to adapt to the unique contours of your face, eliminating the pressure points and temple squeeze common with conventional metal frames. Whether you have a wider face, higher cheekbones, or simply prefer a more relaxed fit, the 2152 adjusts to you—not the other way around. This makes them particularly well-suited for extended wear at a desk or computer.

Square Double-Bridge Design

The 2152 features a square lens shape with a distinctive double-bridge design. The double bridge—two parallel bars connecting the lenses at the nose—provides extra stability to the frame while creating a clean, architectural look. The stainless steel construction is lightweight yet durable, and the frame is available in three finishes: silver, gunmetal, and bronze/copper.

Prescription-Ready and Versatile

These frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, bifocal, and progressive lenses. The full-rim design provides excellent lens security and works well with a range of prescription strengths. Skull temples curve comfortably behind the ears for a secure, non-slip fit. Measurements are available in two sizes: 54-17-140mm and 56-17-140mm (lens width-bridge width-temple length), allowing you to choose the best fit for your face.

Manufactured in Italy as part of the Luxottica family, Sferoflex frames maintain rigorous quality standards while remaining accessibly priced.

Gettin' closer

For years now, I've wanted to find the style of frames in the color I prefer. No luck, so I've had to settle for silver with gold bridge Sferoflex 2152. I was thrilled to see they made them in copper/bronze! One selection the brick & mortar store doesn't carry, or know about apparently. I'm still holding out for Sferoflex 2152's in all gold. I may get a second pair in copper/bronze until they do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Sferoflex 2152 eyeglasses compatible with progressive lenses?

Yes, the Sferoflex 2152 frames are fully compatible with progressive lenses. The square lens shape and full-rim design provide sufficient vertical height to accommodate the multiple viewing zones required for progressive (no-line bifocal) prescriptions. They also work with single-vision and traditional bifocal lenses.

What is the flexible spring hinge technology in Sferoflex frames?

Sferoflex's patented flexible spring hinge, invented in 1941, features a specialized spring mechanism inside the temple hinge that allows the arms to flex outward and adapt to the size and shape of every face. This provides a pressure-free, customized fit that eliminates the temple squeeze and discomfort common with standard metal frames, making them ideal for all-day wear.

What size options are available for the Sferoflex 2152?

The Sferoflex 2152 is available in two sizes: 54-17-140mm and 56-17-140mm. The first number (54 or 56) is the lens width in millimeters, 17 is the bridge width, and 140 is the temple length. The 54mm size suits smaller to medium faces, while the 56mm works better for medium to larger faces.

What material are Sferoflex 2152 frames made from?

The Sferoflex 2152 frames are constructed from stainless steel, a durable and lightweight metal material that resists corrosion and maintains its shape over time. Stainless steel frames offer excellent strength-to-weight ratio, making them comfortable for extended wear while providing long-lasting durability.

Are Sferoflex eyeglasses good quality?

Yes, Sferoflex eyeglasses are manufactured in Italy by Luxottica (acquired in 1982) and are known for their quality construction and innovative comfort technology. The brand has maintained its reputation for durable, well-made frames at accessible prices. Customer reviews frequently mention long-term satisfaction, with many buyers purchasing the same Sferoflex models repeatedly over several years.

What face shapes work best with square eyeglass frames?

Square frames like the Sferoflex 2152 work particularly well for round and oval face shapes, as the angular lines add definition and structure to softer features. They can also complement heart-shaped faces. The clean, straight lines and pronounced corners of square frames create a balanced, professional look that suits most face types.

Sferoflex 2152 vs. Other Sferoflex Metal Frames

If you're considering the Sferoflex 2152, you may also be looking at other metal frames in the Sferoflex collection. All share the brand's signature flexible spring hinge technology, but differ in design details and price. Here's how the 2152 compares to similar models.

Sferoflex 2152 vs. Sferoflex 2263

Both the 2152 and 2263 are square metal frames designed for men, and both feature the patented flex temple system that adapts to your face. The key difference is in the styling: the 2152 features a distinctive double-bridge design that adds architectural interest and a retro-inspired edge, while the 2263 typically has a more streamlined single-bridge construction. The 2263 starts at a lower price ($61.54 vs. $86.54), making it a good choice if you prefer cleaner, more minimalist styling. Choose the 2152 if you want the extra visual character of the double bridge and don't mind the slightly higher investment.

Sferoflex 2152 vs. Sferoflex 2197

The Sferoflex 2197 is the most budget-friendly option in this comparison, starting at just $50.20. It delivers the same Italian-made quality and flex hinge comfort as the 2152, but in a simpler design. If your priority is getting Sferoflex's adaptive fit technology at the lowest possible price, the 2197 is an excellent value. However, the 2152 offers more distinctive styling with its double-bridge construction and typically comes in more premium finishes like bronze/copper and gunmetal. The 2152 is the better choice for those who want a frame that makes more of a style statement.

Sferoflex 2152 vs. Sferoflex 2267

The 2267 sits in the middle of the Sferoflex range at $68.38–$74.23, positioned between the budget 2197 and the more premium 2152. Like all Sferoflex frames, it features the flexible spring hinge and Italian construction. The 2152's advantage is its unique double-bridge design, which provides both structural reinforcement and a more distinctive, architectural look. If you appreciate the double-bridge aesthetic and want a frame that stands out a bit more, the 2152 justifies its slightly higher price. The 2267 is a solid choice if you want Sferoflex quality in a more conventional design.

Why Choose the Sferoflex 2152?

The 2152 is the best choice in the Sferoflex collection if you want the combination of the brand's renowned comfort technology with a more distinctive, architecturally-inspired design. The double-bridge construction sets it apart visually while adding extra frame stability. It's ideal for professionals and style-conscious wearers who want a frame that's both functional and visually interesting, and who are willing to invest a bit more for those design details. All three frames deliver the same adaptive comfort, so your choice comes down to styling preference and budget.
