DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The SpyOptic Cyrus Optical eyeglasses bring the brand's most iconic sunglass silhouette to prescription-ready frames. If you've struggled to find square frames that actually fit a larger face, the Cyrus Optical was designed with you in mind. These aren't scaled-up versions of standard frames—they're purpose-built for broader faces, with a wide temple-to-temple span, generous lens height, and ultra-thick temples that create visual balance instead of looking undersized.

Built for Large Faces, Designed to Stand Out

The Cyrus Optical features the same commanding square geometry that made the Cyrus sunglasses a cult favorite. The frame front is defined by subtle beveled edge detailing along the brow line—a sculptural touch that adds depth without unnecessary ornamentation. Available in seven versatile finishes including Matte Black, Black, Matte Gray, Crystal, Dark Tort Crystal, Gray Fade, and Dark Tort, there's a look for every style preference.

Constructed from premium acetate, these frames are lightweight despite their substantial appearance. The material is hypoallergenic and durable enough for daily wear. Wire-core temples reinforce the structure and curve gently inward for stability behind the ears. High-quality spring hinges provide a secure, comfortable fit that flexes outward when needed—reducing pressure points and extending the frame's lifespan.

The Cyrus Optical is offered in two sizes: 58mm and 60mm lens width, both with a 17mm bridge and 148mm temples. The 60mm version is classified as extra-large fit and weighs just 43 grams. Both sizes are prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, and high-index lenses. The generous lens area makes them particularly well-suited for progressive wearers who need vertical space for multiple vision zones.

What Owners Say

"These are by far my favorite. The size is big but stylish. The fit and feel is great."

The Cyrus Optical is available in two size options to ensure proper fit, with spring hinges that accommodate wider head shapes and wire-core temples that maintain their adjustment over time. The extra-large 60mm option provides the temple width and lens height needed for comfortable all-day wear on broader faces.

Terrible experience

I ordered a pair of glasses from how they looked on the virtual try on and they ended up being twice as big as they seemed so I sent them back and got a partial refund which I bit the bullet since I picked them. I got a second pair and loved the frame but they came bent and completely crooked. I eventually got them sent back to be straightened out and after you guys had them for a week you sent them back to me without fixing anything. They are literally just as bent and crooked as when I sent them back. So now over two months after ordering my first pair of glasses from you I’m sitting here having lost $80 with a bent and crooked frame pair of glasses I’d never wear. Love the frame. Love the glasses. But somehow getting a pair that aren’t crooked and make me look slow is a difficult policy riddled nightmare. Maybe something can happen to fix the situation and not leave me with such a sour taste in my mouth? Or at least not a crooked bent pair of $170 glasses. That’d be fantastic

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the SpyOptic Cyrus Optical eyeglasses good for large faces?

Yes, the Cyrus Optical is specifically designed for larger faces. Available in 58mm and 60mm lens widths with a wide temple-to-temple span, these frames provide proportional coverage for broader facial structures. The 60mm version is classified as extra-large fit and weighs only 43 grams despite its substantial size.

What size are the SpyOptic Cyrus Optical frames?

The Cyrus Optical comes in two sizes: 58-17-148 and 60-17-148. The first number is lens width (58mm or 60mm), the second is bridge width (17mm), and the third is temple length (148mm). Both sizes feature the same bold square shape and are designed to fit large to extra-large faces.

Can I get prescription lenses in SpyOptic Cyrus Optical frames?

Absolutely. The Cyrus Optical is fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, bifocal, and high-index lenses. The large lens area is particularly advantageous for progressive wearers because it provides ample vertical space for different vision zones. These frames can also accommodate strong prescriptions when paired with high-index lenses.

What material are the Cyrus Optical frames made from?

The Cyrus Optical frames are constructed from handcrafted acetate, a plant-derived material that's lightweight, hypoallergenic, and durable. The frames feature wire-core temples for added reinforcement and high-quality spring hinges that create a secure, comfortable fit while allowing outward flex to reduce pressure.

Do the SpyOptic Cyrus Optical frames have spring hinges?

Yes, the Cyrus Optical features high-quality spring hinges that provide flexibility and durability. Spring hinges allow the temples to flex outward beyond 90 degrees, creating a more comfortable fit that accommodates different head widths while reducing wear on the frame over time.

How do the Cyrus Optical eyeglasses compare to the Cyrus sunglasses?

The Cyrus Optical eyeglasses share the same iconic square silhouette and ultra-thick temples as the popular Cyrus sunglasses, but are designed specifically for prescription lenses. Both feature the signature beveled edge details and bold geometry. The optical version uses acetate construction with spring hinges, while the sunglasses typically use Grilamid frames with 5-barrel hinges.

SpyOptic Cyrus Optical vs. Weston vs. Cyrus Sunglasses

If you're drawn to SPY's bold aesthetic and need frames that fit a larger face, you're likely weighing a few options. Here's how the Cyrus Optical stacks up against two other popular SPY models.

Cyrus Optical vs. Weston Large

Both the Cyrus Optical and the Weston Large are square acetate frames with spring hinges, but they serve different style preferences. The Cyrus Optical is the bolder choice—ultra-thick temples, beveled edge details, and a more commanding presence on the face. It's available in 58mm and 60mm sizes, with the 60mm classified as extra-large fit.

The Weston, by contrast, is slightly more refined. It has a classic square shape that works well in professional settings without the same level of visual impact. If you need the absolute widest fit or want a frame that makes a statement, the Cyrus Optical is the better pick. If you prefer a square frame that's bold but not quite as oversized, the Weston is a solid alternative.

Cyrus Optical vs. Cyrus Sunglasses

The Cyrus Optical eyeglasses and Cyrus sunglasses share the same DNA—square geometry, thick temples, and that signature beveled brow line. The key difference is function: the optical version is designed for prescription lenses and everyday indoor/outdoor wear, while the sunglasses are built for sun protection with SPY's Happy Lens technology and optional polarization.

Material-wise, the optical frames use handcrafted acetate with spring hinges, while the sunglasses typically feature Grilamid construction with 5-barrel hinges for added durability in active conditions. Many customers buy both to maintain a consistent look whether they're wearing prescription glasses or shades. If you want one frame that does it all, the Cyrus Optical is prescription-ready and versatile. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, pairing the optical frames with Cyrus sunglasses gives you the best of both worlds.

Bottom line: The Cyrus Optical is the go-to for large faces and bold style in a prescription-ready package. The Weston offers a similar fit with a more understated look, and the Cyrus sunglasses complete the family for outdoor wear.
