DESCRIPTION RATINGS & REVIEWS PRESCRIPTION GUIDE

The Avio AOV2312 eyeglasses bring Italian design sensibility to a modern cat-eye silhouette. Available in two distinctive acetate finishes—a tortoise-to-blue fade and a black fade—these prescription-ready frames feature the upswept corners that define the cat-eye shape, balanced with a full-rim construction that works for single-vision and progressive lenses alike.

Avio frames are made from cellulose acetate, a material derived from wood pulp and cotton fibers. Acetate offers practical advantages: it can be heat-adjusted by an optician for a custom fit, holds rich color and pattern depth, and provides a lightweight feel. The 55mm lens width and 17mm bridge make this a medium-to-large fit, and the full-rim acetate construction helps conceal lens edges—a practical advantage if you have a stronger prescription.

The AOV2312's softer, rounded cat-eye silhouette keeps the look wearable for everyday use rather than costume-level vintage. Small metal accents mark the temples, a subtle nod to quality without overwhelming the acetate's natural finish.

These frames are prescription-ready and compatible with a full range of lens options: single-vision, progressive, high-index, blue-light filtering, and photochromic lenses. The acetate material allows for precise adjustments at the temples and bridge, so an optician can fine-tune the fit to your face.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Avio AOV2312 eyeglasses prescription-ready?

Yes, the Avio AOV2312 frames are fully prescription-ready and compatible with single-vision, progressive, bifocal, and high-index lenses. The full-rim acetate construction provides excellent lens retention and works well with stronger prescriptions. You can also add blue-light filtering, photochromic (Transitions), or anti-reflective coatings.

What face shapes work best with cat-eye frames like the AOV2312?

Cat-eye frames are especially flattering for round, oval, and heart-shaped faces because the upswept corners add angular definition and lift facial features. The AOV2312's softer cat-eye silhouette also works well for square faces, as the curves help balance strong jawlines. The 55mm lens width suits medium-to-large face sizes.

What is acetate, and why is it better than regular plastic?

Acetate is a plant-based material made from cotton and wood pulp, making it more durable, flexible, and lightweight than petroleum-based plastic frames. Acetate frames resist cracking, maintain their shape over time, and offer richer color depth that doesn't fade. They're also hypoallergenic and easier for opticians to adjust for a custom fit.

Are Avio eyeglasses made in Italy?

Yes, Avio frames are handcrafted in Italy at the brand's factory using premium acetate and traditional craftsmanship. Each frame is individually cut, formed, and polished by hand, ensuring quality construction and a refined finish. This Italian heritage is reflected in the attention to detail and material quality.

What are the measurements of the Avio AOV2312?

The Avio AOV2312 measures 55mm lens width, 17mm bridge width, and 140mm temple length (55-17-140). This is considered a medium-to-large fit. The lens height is approximately 43mm, which provides enough vertical space for progressive lenses if needed.

Can I wear these frames all day comfortably?

Yes, acetate frames like the AOV2312 are known for all-day comfort. The material is lightweight yet sturdy, and its flexibility allows the frame to conform slightly to your face shape over time. The full-rim design distributes weight evenly, and the acetate won't irritate sensitive skin since it's hypoallergenic.

Avio AOV2312 vs Other Cat-Eye Eyeglasses

If you're considering the Avio AOV2312, you might also be looking at other cat-eye acetate frames in a similar price range. Here's how the AOV2312 compares to other popular options in our collection.

Avio AOV2312 vs Kate Spade Atalina

The Kate Spade Atalina ($55-141) offers American designer branding with playful details, while the Avio AOV2312 ($96) brings Italian handcrafted construction. The key difference is manufacturing: Avio frames are made by hand in Italy using premium acetate, while Kate Spade frames are mass-produced. If you value artisan craftsmanship and Italian heritage, the Avio delivers more at a competitive price. If you prefer established designer branding and want more color variety, the Atalina offers that flexibility.

Avio AOV2312 vs Guess 2677

The Guess 2677 ($99-107) sits in the same price range as the Avio AOV2312, but the construction quality differs. Avio's Italian handcrafted acetate frames use plant-based cellulose acetate that's more durable and flexible than standard plastic. Guess offers bold fashion styling with recognizable branding, but without the same emphasis on artisan construction. For customers prioritizing frame longevity and material quality, the Avio is the stronger choice.

Avio AOV2312 vs Tory Burch 2079

The Tory Burch 2079 ($113-200) represents the luxury designer tier, with premium pricing that reflects the brand's fashion positioning. While Tory Burch offers signature design elements and luxury branding, the Avio AOV2312 delivers comparable Italian craftsmanship at a significantly lower price point. Both use quality acetate, but you're paying a premium for the Tory Burch name. If Italian handcrafted quality matters more than luxury branding, the Avio offers exceptional value at $96.

Bottom line: The Avio AOV2312 occupies a sweet spot—Italian handcrafted quality with premium acetate at an accessible price. You get artisan construction without luxury brand markup, making it an excellent choice for customers who value craftsmanship and material quality over designer logos.
